News From the Field:

Successful Two-Day Introduction to Permaculture Course Held in Tubaly

On September 16th-17th more than 50 organic farmers, rural health workers, local government officials, and students gathered for a two-day Introduction to Permaculture Design Course in the Philippines. The course was led by our Philippines Program Manager Karen Lee Hizola, who is trained in Permaculture Design and Maam Julie Peralta another Filipina Permaculture expert.

Permaculture is systems thinking and conscious designing of landscapes that mimics and follows patterns found in nature. It is often integrated with organic farming practices around the globe.

During the seminar participants learned core principles of permaculture, global implementation, and brainstormed how they might best use these practices on their farms.
