Tenure-Track Position in African-American Literature at the Rank of Assistant Professor - the English Department of Lafayette College

The English Department of Lafayette College invites applications for a tenure-track  position in African-American literature at the rank of assistant professor to begin on July  1, 2017. The successful candidate will be able to teach lower division courses in writing  and introductory literature, and upper division courses in African-American literature, in  addition to courses that fulfill the requirements of the Common Course of Study. We are  particularly interested in candidates with secondary strengths in American Modernism,  critical race theory, and/or literatures of the African diaspora. The teaching load is 2/2 in  the first year, 3/2 thereafter. Ph.D./ABD near completion required. The successful  candidate will be an excellent teacher and active scholar committed to the mission of a  liberal arts college. Assistant Professor of Environmental Humanities - Environmental Justice

The Environmental Studies department at Davidson College seeks to hire a tenure-track assistant professor in Environmental Humanities with an emphasis in Environmental Justice. We particularly welcome applicants with doctoral degrees in interdisciplinary Environmental Humanities. To complement our existing strengths in environmental literature, we also welcome applications from those who specialize in environmental justice with degrees in other humanistic disciplines such as American Studies, Art History, Cultural Studies, History, Philosophy, and Religion.

Teaching load is four courses in the first year, and five thereafter. Courses include an interdisciplinary foundation course in Environmental Humanities, a first-year writing course, and courses in the applicant's areas of expertise at the introductory, intermediate, and advanced levels. The successful candidate will also mentor undergraduate research projects.

We are looking for a committed teacher-scholar who will maintain an active research agenda; participate in departmental and college-wide initiatives; advise students in Environmental Studies; and contribute to all levels of the curriculum. Demonstrated or potential teaching excellence is essential. In addition to the interdisciplinary major in Environmental Studies, Davidson has interdisciplinary majors in Africana Studies, East Asian Studies, Gender and Sexuality Studies, and Latin American Studies, as well as interdisciplinary minors in Communication Studies, Digital Studies, Film and Media Studies, Global Literary Theory, Health and Human Values, Middle East Studies, and South Asian Studies. Cross-listed courses and collaborations with one or more of these areas and with disciplinary departments are encouraged. The successful candidate will be expected to have a PhD by  August 1, 2017 .

Assistant Professor, Tenure Track, African American Intellectual and Political History/Pan-Africanism/Global Diaspora - Fordham University, Lincoln Center Campus, Manhattan, NY

The Department of African and African American Studies invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of African-American Intellectual and Political History as well as Pan-Africanism and Global diasporic movements , beginning August 2017 at Fordham's  Lincoln Center Campus.  

The successful candidate for the position will be an interdisciplinary scholar of  African American History and African Diasporic politics and movements, who can offer courses rooted in these academic areas.

Preference will be given to those candidates whose research reflects a broad perspective on  African-American, Pan-African and Diaspora Intellectual and Political History.

We seek candidates with evidence of excellence in teaching and  a well-defined research agenda.   S/he will be expected to contribute to undergraduate curricular needs in African and African American Studies, International Studies as well as American Studies.
