Iliadathon Event Continues Decade-Long Tradition
This past weekend, Veritas students held the Iliadathon: a marathon all-night reading of Homer's poem featuring interludes of food, fun and thematic games. This high-school event was well-attended and a good time for all involved.

URGENT: Traffic Safety Notice
As a reminder, for the safety of all, please do not drop off or pick up students in the small front lobby parking area during regular hours. This area is reserved for late drop off and pick up only. This is a safety issue: warnings and/or detentions may be given for repeated misuse of this area. Thank you for driving carefully and looking out for the well-being of our students!

Middle School Spelling Bee: This year, Veritas Prep will be holding its very own Spelling Bee on November 16. Stay tuned for more information from Mr. Winebrenner on how to get involved!

Front Office Parent Volunteers Needed: Our front office would be grateful for parent assistance answering phones during the week between the hours of 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM. If there is a day you can help out for a portion of this time, please sign up here. Thank you!
New Student Mentoring Continues Tuesday, September 27
On Tuesday, September 27, Veritas Prep's student mentors will continue their biweekly meetings with new Veritas students after school. Regular mentor meetings will be held every other Tuesday after school from 2:45-3:15 PM.
 
WHAT TO DO: 6th Graders will simply stay in their classroom after school, and mentors will meet with them there. All other new students (7th through 10th grade) will pack up and meet in library.   Parents, please plan on picking up your students at 3:15 rather than 2:40. Thank you!

College Counseling Updates

College Visit Season at Veritas 
The College visit schedule is posted at the College Counseling bulletin board. New visits are added daily, so be sure to check often.
Please sign up for visits in Naviance to allow us to schedule appropriate space for each college. If you have forgotten your Naviance log in, stop by our offices or email us. 
 
Tuesday, October 4: Highly Selective College Night
All high school parents/students are invited to attend the Highly Selective College Night Tuesday, October 4th at 7pm in the Lund. Please join us as admission representatives explain what helps make a candidate competitive for highly selective admission.
 
Wednesday, October 5: College Essay Writing Workshop
Senior students can learn how to write an effective College Essay -
After school in Room 203.
 
November 2nd is PSAT Test Day at Veritas
On Wednesday, November 2nd, all Veritas Prep students in grades 9-11 will take the PSAT/NMSQT (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test), a practice college admissions test. Scores from the PSAT/NMSQT are never sent to colleges. However, for juniors, the scores are used to determine whether a student qualifies for the National Merit Scholarship program. For freshmen and sophomores, the test is only practice and allows students to gain exposure and experience with standardized testing for college. 
 
The fee for having a PSAT/NMSQT test scored is $25. If you did not register at VPREP please do so at this link:
