A Message from Executive Director William Salcedo
|
Dear Friends,
The season of apple picking, pumpkin flavored everything, fall foliage, and children going back to school is upon us! I hope all of the children in our BBBS family are getting settled in their new routines and have a great school year. We recently held our 16th Annual Back to School Parties and each child was given a backpack filled with supplies to start the school year off on the
right foot.
Fall is also a great time of year for our Bigs and Littles to share outdoor activities. The temperature is cool and many autumn activities cost little to no money. Some great activities include pumpkin picking, hayrides, corn mazes, baking, playing or attending a football game, going on a hike, or working on a school project together.
For all of us here at BBBSMMC, fall is an eventful time of year. Our School Based and Beyond School Walls programs kick off soon and we host two large fundraising events. We recently held our annual volleyball tournament and our biggest event of the year, the annual gala is coming up in October.
Enjoy the season!

Our 2016 Gala Honoree is Peter Cancro, Founder and CEO of Jersey Mike's Subs and supporter of BBBS and many other organizations. The gala is our agency's biggest fundraiser of the year and there are many ways for you to get involved! Be a Sponsor! We have several sponsorship opportunities to best fit your level of support. Attend the Event! The Gala is Friday October 14th at Buona Sera Palazzo in Ocean. The event begins at 6:30PM with an elegant cocktail reception, and silent auction followed by dinner and dancing. A live auction will feature the opportunity to
"Sponsor-A-Match" where attendees can pledge the cost of bringing a child together with a caring, adult mentor and for professional supervision of the match for the first year.

Little Sister Kiarra with her Big Sister Christa |
Christa enrolled to become a Big Sister in 2009 and was matched with her Little Sister, Kiarra who was 10 years old at the time. Over the past 7 years, they shared in numerous activities, many of which were a lot of
"firsts" for Kiarra.

A Little Life is Waiting for a Big Change
Mekki is in 5th grade and is a bubbly, inquisitive boy. He loves sports and is currently playing football as a linebacker. His favorite topics of conversation are football, basketball, and sports in general. He enjoys researching new things and likes learning facts about any topic. Mekki hopes his Big Brother is
"nice" and would like to play football & go to a bounce house with him.
