Message from MetroED Superintendent Alyssa Lynch

The 2016-2017 school year kicked off with increased enrollment, new staff, and a campus full of high energy. Later this school year, we will celebrate our 100th Anniversary serving students in Silicon Valley.

This year, Silicon Valley Career Technical Education Center (SVCTE) launched our first Cybersecurity program. Our Pharmacy Tech program doubled in size since launching last year. More than 70% of our high school programs are UC "a-g" approved, which now includes our Fire Science/First Responder and Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) programs.

Silicon Valley Adult Education (SVAE) has already had three students pass the HiSet exams since school opened in August and they continue to expand their programs.

With the national spotlight on College and Career Readiness and CTE, many new tools are being released. I linked a few of them below. I am looking forward to another exciting year that will prepare high school and adult students for future success in college and careers.

SVCTE Students Fill the New Cybersecurity Class

Cybersecurity is an essential part of protecting companies' data and information. More than two dozen high school students have filled the new course offered at SVCTE. The school envisions the new Cybersecurity class as a key pathway to train the next generation of Cybersecurity experts and professionals. Over the next decade, this will be an industry that will have a higher demand than the job force can supply. Because of its very nature, this service cannot be outsourced overseas. More >>
