A note from Steve Pribnow, Chairman, Midland University Board of Directors

As the 2016-2017 year begins, it seems that happy and exciting news about Midland is arriving every day. We are thrilled to be able to announce record enrollment again this year. We are excited about the changes on campus and look forward to establishing a long-term location in Omaha that will allow us to expand our pedagogical reach in that area. It seems that all of our athletic teams are off to great starts, and we bask in the glow of the national number one ranking of our volleyball team. Most importantly, the excitement of a new year of academic and personal learning and growing as contributing members of society for every one of our students energizes and inspires all of the faculty and staff.

We invite you to participate in the many events of the upcoming homecoming weekend, and get a taste of the excitement for yourself. There are various events of homecoming listed on our website or in this newsletter. I hope one or more of these opportunities will fit your schedule. We want everyone in the community to connect with us at Midland and share in the enthusiasm of our students, faculty and staff. The Almighty has truly blessed us in this joint endeavor of higher learning!

Robert Blacklidge's Story: An MBA for Entrepreneurs

Robert Blacklidge began his entrepreneurial career very early. He started selling candy as a way of getting a little extra spending money in the sixth grade. "I've always had that drive, you know?" Robert says.

That drive lead him to the Air Force, then to his bachelor's degree, but he still had the desire to build his own company. There was just one problem: getting started. Robert's real-world experiences had prepared him for the realities of running his own company, but in order to get started, the banks needed more from him, such as a professional business plan. That led him to the Midland MBA program.

Midland University Volleyball made program history during September when the program received the No. 1 spot in the release of the Tachikara-NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll.  This marks the first time in program history the Lady Warriors have been the top-ranked team in the country.  The volleyball team's No. 1 ranking also marks the first time in school history for any Midland team as the top-rated program in an official NAIA Poll in its respective sport.
