PHOENIX, Ariz. - The 13
th
Annual Western Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) Games and Creedmoor Cup Matches will return to the Ben Avery Shooting Facility Oct. 7-16, 2016 for another series of rifle events. New and experienced marksmen are welcome to participate in these recreation-oriented, national-level competitions.
Popular CMP Games events being featured during the Western Games include the Garand, Springfield, Vintage Military, Modern Military, Rimfire Sporter, Carbine and Vintage Sniper matches. A CMP Games Match Clinic will also be held to give competitors a more in-depth look at these challenging events.

CMP'S TALLADEGA HOSTS ALABAMA STATE SPORTING CLAY CHAMPIONSHIPS
|
TALLADEGA, Ala. - On Sept. 15-18, 2016, the Civilian Marksmanship Program's (CMP) Talladega Marksmanship Park hosted its first state shotgun event as the 2016 Alabama State Sporting Clays Championship competed on its refined sporting clay fields, action pistol bays and 600-yard range. Nearly 200 participants fired in a multitude of events, with over 700 entries and more than 51,650 targets used in Talladega's largest shotgun match to date.
The event was conducted by the Alabama Sporting Clays Association, along with Howell Traps, and Lincoln Traps that helped with setup. CMP's Talladega Marksmanship Park served as the host facility.

Junior air rifle marksmen of all experience levels are invited to participate in one of the Civilian Marksmanship Program's (CMP) most popular air gun events of the year, the Gary Anderson Invitational (GAI). This year's event will be held Dec. 2-3 at the newly renovated CMP South Competition Center in Anniston, Ala., and Dec. 3 at the Gary Anderson CMP Competition Center in Camp Perry, Ohio.

CMP CLUB NEWS: FOOSLAND SPORTSMEN'S CLUB ENDS 2016 SEASON

On Aug. 28, 2016, the Foosland Sportsmen's Club closed out our CMP season with a CMP Service Rifle Clinic and Match. Our diverse group of participants were led by CMP Certified Master Instructor Jeff Porter and associates, with instructions for both classroom and match. Their help and experience was especially insightful and appreciated by our new participants on the range.

Whether it's a victory lap or a simple fist-pump, the celebration is noticeable. When Emma Thompson, 16, set the new national record for air rifle marksmanship in the sporter class with a score of 575 in July, she didn't even know what she had accomplished. The
CMP South Store
located in Anniston, Alabama, will re-open at its new location on Thursday, October 6th. The South Store will be located at 1470 Sentinel Drive, the same building as the CMP South Competition Center. Hours will remain the same: Thursday - Saturday, 8:00AM - 3:00PM.
JROTC Air Rifle Postal Registration Open. The 2016-2017 JROTC Postal Competition officially opened on Sept. 26th for young cadets in Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force JROTC programs who are interested in competing in this three-position air rifle match with other talented juniors across the nation. Last year, over 7,000 juniors competed in the match that serves as the first step on the road to Nationals. Visit our website at

CMP State Directors. The mission of the State Directors is to provide leadership, resource and program information, coordination, networking, motivation and publicity for junior shooting within his or her state. The CMP is currently taking applications for the following states: DE, LA, MT, NJ, ND, NH, NV, and WI.  Anniston's Dixie Double -The 60 shot international air rifle and air pistol competition will take place on Saturday and Sunday, 4-6 November 2016, with the first relay beginning at 0800 Saturday and the second relay at 1000. On Sunday the relay times will remain the same, although shooters will switch relays. There will be a Final at the conclusion of the matches on Saturday and Sunday. Pre-registration is required for the matches. All events will be held at the CMP Competition Center South in Anniston AL, featuring 80 MEGAlink electronic targets. On Saturday, after the final, there will be an optional target sprint event. This event will determine who get to walk the $1000 prize table first, which will be awarded during the dinner on Saturday. Entry Fee's are $50 per person. Visit

USA Shooting Coach Academy - USAS Coach Academy has scheduled an Advanced Rifle Coach ground course at the Ole Mill Range Complex in Griffin GA on 27-30 October. Griffin GA is 31.5 miles South of the Atlanta airport.

CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park
. The latest addition to the CMP is its 500-acre outdoor marksmanship facility in Talladega, Alabama. The CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park
is the first of its kind in the country and is one of the most sophisticated in the world - housing electronic targets similar to those used in the CMP air gun ranges. Several events have been planned at the CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park:
CMP Garand-Springfield-Military Master Instructor
Training Workshop. Experienced rifle marksmanship instructors and shooters who would like to receive
advanced training and be certified as "Master Instructors" to teach CMP-Sanctioned Garand, Springfield and Vintage Military Rifle or Rimfire Sporter Clinics are invited to apply to attend a 2016 CMP Master Instructor Training Workshop. 2016 dates and locations are:

CMP Monthly Matches

The Civilian Marksmanship Program invites you and your team to participate in the CMP's Monthly Matches. The matches will take place on the dates listed below at the CMP's Marksmanship Centers North and South. The competitions will feature a Junior Air Rifle 3x20 and 3x10, a 60 Shots Air Rifle and Air Pistol match, and a 20 shot Novice Prone match. Rental equipment is available for the monthly matches for a small fee.
