The September Medi-Cal Bulletin had a notice pasted below on the recoupment of the 10% on DME claims:
1. Ten Percent Payment Reduction for DME Providers
Effective retroactively for dates of service from June 1, 2011, through October 23, 2013, a 10 percent payment reduction for Durable Medical Equipment (DME) services and supplies is implemented in accordance with Assembly Bill 97.
Due to court injunctions, AB 97 did not initially result in payment reductions for DME providers. The injunctions were lifted on June 14, 2013, and the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) was given authority to retroactively collect the 10 percent payment reduction.
CAMPS has contacted DHCS to obtain more insight as to the timing of the claw back. We have been informed that a corrected article will be posted likely next week indicating that a time to begin the recoupment has not yet been determined. It should also indicate that providers will receive letters 60 days in advance of the start date. We had been operating under the assumption that the claw back would begin in January of 2017.
