COFFEE TALK AT GREENE ELEMENTARY
Want the latest scoop on your District and campus - straight from your Superintendent - in a small setting? Keep your eyes open for a 'Coffee Talk' event at your student's campus Throughout the year, Superintendent Dr. Greg Smith makes the rounds of Clear Creek ISD visiting with parents and informing them of the latest news in public education, the District, and their unique campus. And yes, there's coffee! Parents have the ability to ask questions in a relaxed setting and have discussions on how everyone makes this school district great! September's Coffee Talk meeting was at Greene Elementary Be on the lookout for the next Coffee Talks at Hall Elementary (October 6), North Pointe Elementary (November 3) and Stewart Elementary (December 1). Elementary campus Coffee Talks meet in the library at 8:30 a.m. and usually last about an hour.
GRANDPARENTS DAY
CCISD campuses celebrated national Grandparents Day by hosting special gatherings where students spent time with their grandparents and showed them around their classrooms.

CCEF LEADER IN ME GRANT
The Clear Creek Education Foundation presented a $25,000 Special Innovative Grant to Falcon Pass Elementary for their new "Leader in Me Program." The school will receive an additional $25,000 in the next two years for a total of $50,000 for this innovative new program that will "create a culture of empowerment for students, staff and community through character development, academic goal setting and leadership." CCEF Board members were on hand at Falcon Pass' faculty meeting to present staff with their check and show their support. STEWART STUDENTS BEING THEIR BEST
Stewart Elementary recently held a " Being Our Best" workshop for fourth grade students. This fun and interactive half-day program focuses on team building, anti-bullying and teaches students how to help and care for others.
HEARTS FOR SERVICE AT CLEAR SPRINGS
Student United Way at Clear Springs High School woke up early on Saturday to help unload, bag, and hand out groceries to the less-fortunate at the M. I. Lewis Social Service Center Food Fair. There were approximately 75 student volunteers passing out food to more than 210 families!
TECHNOLOGY DEPLOYMENT DAY
CCISD students are powered-up for learning with the deployment of tablets and computers as part of the District's one computer per student initiative in grades 4 -12. The CCISD technology department quickly and efficiently deployed 30,000 devices. The team had the process down where approximately 1,000 computers and tablets were distributed to students per hour.

HYDE WATCH D.O.G.S.
Hyde Elementary hosted a "Dogs with Dads" event where students and their dads enjoyed a free hot dog dinner and learned about the school's WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) Program. A WATCH D.O.G.S. member takes a day off of work and spends it volunteering in the school reading to the kids, working with small groups, helping out in the lunchroom and more.
KICK FOR THE KIDS
Sponsored by Norman Frede Chevrolet, "Kick for the Kids" is a Friday and Saturday night  event before each varsity football game that allows a chosen 5th grader from a CCISD elementary school to participate in a fundraising activity that will benefit their school's physical education program. The student is given the challenge to make a 13-yard field goal. If he/she makes the kick, Norman Frede Chevrolet makes a donation to the elementary school. "Kick for the Kids" is an exciting way to allow students to support their school while entertaining the crowd at the same time. Click here to see pictures of the students each week.
WESTBROOK TEXANS CHALLENGE
Westbrook Intermediate 6th grade teachers and students held a pep rally to kick off the Houston Texans Stats Challenge for 6th grade mathematics students. The challenge lasts for 6 weeks and includes several lessons developed through a partnership between the Houston Texans and Region 4 using stats from recent games and other Texans-related information. At the conclusion of the challenge, students will have the opportunity to submit an essay for a chance to win two tickets to attend a Texans game in a suite and two tickets for their teacher to attend the game as well.
