Intellitech relocates to St. Petersburg bringing 15 manufacturing jobs intellitech


Intellitech, a manufacturer of liquid filling and closure machinery used in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries, announced the completion of their relocation from Maryland to St. Petersburg. The company anticipates bringing 15 jobs to their new headquarters at 11801 28th Street N.

"We're celebrating our 21st year in business and this relocation will help push Intellitech to our next level of growth," said Barbara Biller, President of Intellitech. "...the City of St. Petersburg [is] the ideal location for Intellitech to connect to both our suppliers and customers." Since their relocation in December 2015, Intellitech has found new suppliers in the local manufacturing community and recently closed a large contract with Pinellas firm VistaPharm.

Intellitech was welcomed by Governor Rick Scott and the community at a celebration in late September. "I welcome Intellitech to the Sunshine City," said Mayor Rick Kriseman. "St. Petersburg has strong specialized manufacturing and life sciences clusters that will provide both a base of workforce talent as well as a great customer base for this growing company."

Request for Qualifications: Brownfields Consulting Services rfq

The City of St. Petersburg, Florida ("City") is requesting a Statement of Qualifications from qualified firms or individuals interested in performing Brownfield environmental assessments and related services for the management and performance of a Brownfield Assessment Grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
 
A written Statement of Qualifications will be accepted by the City of St. Petersburg at the Planning & Economic Development Department, 8th Floor, Municipal Services Center, One Fourth Street North, St. Petersburg, Florida  33701, until 4:00 PM, October 14, 2016.

The City reserves the right at any time to modify, waive, or otherwise vary the terms and conditions of this Request for Qualifications including, but not limited to, the deadlines for submission, the submission requirements, and a description of the project and services.  The City further reserves the right to reject any or all submittals, to cancel or withdraw this Request for Qualifications at any time.  Selection is dependent upon the negotiation of a mutually acceptable contract with the successful respondent(s).
Dick's Sporting Goods, Lucky's Market, and PetSmart coming to Tyrone Square Mall tyrone

Seritage Growth Properties, a New York-based real estate developer, has proposed replacing the 188,515 SF Sears store at Tyrone Square Mall with a new 151,952 SF shopping center. Tenants of the new development include Dick's Spoting Goods, Lucky's Market (an organic grocery chain), and PetSmart.

Pending the city's approval, the new shopping center will be on the mall's 22nd Avenue side with store entrances facing Tyrone Blvd. This project follows on recent increased interest and activity in Tyrone, including the opening of Cobb Theaters in April.
By 2030, 6 million more residents will call Florida home chamber


At their recent Town Hall meeting in Pinellas County, the Florida Chamber Foundation met with local business and community leaders to discuss the Florida 2030 project - a two-year research program to further strategic thinking about Florida's future.  By 2030, Florida is expected to receive 6 million new residents and need 2 million new jobs to support the increased population.

Downtown St. Pete ranks #3 in Top 10 Most Walkable Neighborhoods in Florida walkable


Redfin ranked Downtown St. Petersburg as the 3rd most walkable neighborhood in Florida, after Flamingo Park in Miami Beach and Downtown/Lake Eola in Orlando. The rankings were based on Walk Score, a system that measures the proximity and accessibility of amenities given a specific location.
Tampa Bay ranks #4 in Top 10 Most Affordable Metros for Startups startups
LawnStarter, an online startup that connects people to lawn care services, ranked the top 10 most affordable metro areas for startups and named Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater as #4 after San Antonio, TX, Phoenix, AZ, and Kansas City, MO. To develop the ranking, LawnStarter used information from the Kauffman Index of Startup Activity, as well as data on housing prices and cost of living.

Open Streets St. Pete coming October 9th open

Let's play in the streets! Open Streets St. Pete, a pedestrian-friendly celebration that closes the streets of St. Pete to vehicular traffic, is scheduled for Sunday, October 9th from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The event route is from Mirror Lake Drive to Williams Park.

It's not every day that citizens can experience and explore the streets of St. Petersburg without cars. The event is a celebration of cyclists, pedestrians, runners, skaters, and all forms of people-powered movement. Family-friendly activities will be programmed throughout the day, including fitness classes, bike safety obstacles, music, food, games, and giveaways.
