Dear Parents and Dancers,

 

I am grateful that you are a part of our SBS family.  Thank you for your patience during the last few weeks as we have had to shift class times and schedules because of class size enrollment. 

 

The classrooms are filled with excitement and energy!  Many students and their parents have already approached me and asked if I have decided on the theme of this season's recital.  I think everyone's anxious to perform!   While our 21st year recital theme remains TOP SECRET until January, we have included the dates of our recital in this newsletter.  

 

We have selected a charity and will be hosting our 9th fundraising event - Jingle Bell Ball Benefit Show - scheduled for Friday, December 16th.  The success of our winter shows has gained much recognition through the years and our dancers have raised thousands of dollars for many local charities.  Details are provided below.  Information will be sent home to student classes who have been selected to perform at this event.

Jingle Bell Ball Benefit Show 
in honor of the 
Christmas in the City 

Christmas in the City's  is a non-profit that provides holiday magic and memories to Boston-area families. The 100% volunteer organization provides concrete solutions to help families successfully transition from homelessness to independent living.

It is with great pride that I announce Step-By-Step Dance Studio's "Jingle Bell Ball" presented as a benefit for Christmas In The City. Our dancers are joining forces with The Kennedy Family, professional local performers in a fundraising initiative designed for those who understand the power of dance and it's positive effects in healing the soul.

Our studio goal is to raise $20,000 culminating with our Jingle Bell Ball Benefit Show on Friday, December 16th at the American Legion Post 440 in Newton. We hope that this early notification will allow you to mark your calendars and reserve the date!

Step By Step will donate all proceeds of our benefit show to Christmas in the City.
Our semi-formal evening will include an SBS performance, special guest performers, hors d'oeuvres, music, dancing and lots of prizes. Tickets on sale through the studio this fall. Keep a look out for more information coming soon. 




Collecting the following items!
The studio is asking families to get involved in our Jingle Bell Ball.  We are in need of the following items and with your help we could reach a larger population of people. Please ask your friends and families. 

  • We are collecting designer CREW socks to be donated to Boston area teenage boys and girls who are living in homelessness conditions. Crew socks do not need to be brand specific however be creative in your purchase. Think about what a teenager would like to wear. Think of our local Boston sport teams or purchase a pair of socks that are colorful and bright. This small item could change the spirit of the holiday season for many children.  
  • We are seeking anyone who has an artificial Christmas Tree that we could borrow or they are willing to donate to our benefit show. We need our trees to be medium to large size.  I'll take more than one if a handful of people have them to spare.
  • Our studio is collecting gently used large baskets that we could fill with our classroom donated gift items.

Throughout the next several months our studio will be busy in our ongoing efforts to raise $20,000 for Christmas in the City. Information is forthcoming on how you can help and win $1,000 cash prize for yourself! Our studio is planning to host a sock drive this season, collect classroom basket donations and sell 50/50 raffle tickets. If you or someone you know has a business and is willing to make a monetary contribution or purchase a business ad to be featured in our Winter Performance Program please let us know.   Families can also help by volunteering  their time during any of our efforts to raise money for Christmas
 in The City. Volunteering is also a great way to fill community service hours for older students who have to meet these requirements for school and/or religious organizations.
