Ruth Patir's The Sleepers
|
Tuesday at 8pm: Don't miss out on a one-night-only evening with New York City-based interdisciplinary artist Ruth Patir. Patir will be joined at this event by special guest Jonathan Crary, art critic and author of the acclaimed 24/7: Late Capitalism and the Ends of Sleep. Inspired by Sheila Heti's 2008 blog idreamofhillary.blogspot.ca, and as result of her own dream about President Obama, Patir screens 2 films that reevaluate the "cliche" topic of dreams, framing them as a site for political intervention. You will love this project. Don't miss it! Watch the trailer.

Ms. Monson slid around the stage encased in netting, gathering other performers into her web. That's what she does all the time. When she's in the zone, we're all in tow. (Brian Seibert, New York Times)
Thursday thru Saturday: Jennifer Monson's in tow continues! This week, "extraordinary improviser" (-New York Times) Monson and collaborators host a series of "Pre-Attacks" from 6-7pm, prior to the performances. They'll peel back some of the layers of this multifaceted project during these priming events. Pre-Attacks are free and open to the public.
Saturday at 3pm: DraftWork hosts free works-in-progress showings by choreographers Lily Bo Shapiro and Amber Sloan! Our long-running DraftWork program is curated by Ishmael Houston-Jones. After the performances, join Ishmael, Lily, and Amber for a conversation and reception!
