$1,500 Grants Available Now for Suffrage Plans
In 2017 it will be 100 years since New York State signed woman's suffrage into law, three years before the US passed the 19th Amendment. This was a milestone for the state and a transformative moment in American democracy. Equal opportunity is as important a topic today as it was when Susan B. Anthony was arrested in Rochester for attempting to vote.
This historical moment is the perfect time to frame a statewide discussion about the social, professional and political equality of women-and by extension, all citizens-in New York State. Through dialogue about our shared history and our common future, the New York Women's Suffrage Centennial (The Centennial)
will produce a statewide conversation that celebrates the accomplishments of the past while helping us become a more just and equitable society for all.

November is New York State History Month
New York State History Month represents an opportunity for historians and cultural institutions to assert the vital importance of preserving and learning about our state's history. It is also a time to engage with the public through programs and learning opportunities about the history of New York State and the ways in which we can help preserve our history. The New York State Museum encourages historians, museums, historic sites, archives, and libraries across the state to join us in presenting events, tours, lectures, discussions, publications, and exhibitions that highlight the importance of New York State history and the role we (and the public) play in preserving it. SEAL 2.0 Is Here!
In order to get you up and running on the new technology, SENYLRC will be offering in-person training classes around the region as well as free webinars. Trainings will take place from 9/19 - 10-/19. Staff from all types of libraries are welcome to attend classes.
About SEAL 2.0:
Regardless of size, libraries do not have all the materials needed by their patrons. SENYLRC is continuing in a long tradition of providing libraries in the Hudson Valley with a method to borrow from each other. Southeastern Access to Libraries or SEAL is the current platform for regional interlibrary loan comprised of a virtual union catalog and electronic interlibrary loan system. SENYLRC will soon have a new platform for SEAL. If you are already a SEAL ILL System participant or a library new to regional resource sharing, we invite you to participate. There are no fees to use the service.

Reminder: IMLS Grant Deadline is 12/1!
The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) is now accepting applications for four museum grant programs.
Notable changes in FY 2017 include increases in award amount limits for Museums for America and National Leadership Grants programs. Museums for America applicants may request awards of up to $500,000, an increase of $350,000 from last year, and National Leadership Grant applicants may request research and non-research awards of up to $1,000,000, an increase of $500,000 from last year. The Museums for America and National Leadership Grants program guidelines also include information about activities of special interest to IMLS for FY 2017.
