Holistic Child Health Newsletter
May 2016
|
|
Dear Friends, Welcome to the Holistic Child Health Newsletter. The goal of my holistic pediatric practice, and of this newsletter, is to inform and support parents to become more empowered as the primary health care providers for their children. Extending far beyond Western medicine's conventional treatments, holistic medicine and mindful parenting allow us to boost children's natural immunity, support their optimum health and wellness, safely heal any illnesses, and prevent disease-without dangerous side effects. Holistic medicine provides us with the tools to nurture the physical, emotional, social and spiritual health of your children. Over the coming months and years, I intend to use this newsletter to address some of your concerns as parents, share information that you might want to add to your knowledge base, and inform you of important issues and current events that are happening in the news, and in your area.
Together we can heal the whole child. Naturally. Yours in Health, Lawrence B. Palevsky, MD

NYC Appeals Court Decision That Overturned Mandatory Flu Shots!
Your Help is Needed to Fight the Appeal!
New York City has appealed a December, 2015 Supreme Court decision that threw out a regulation requiring children enrolled in certain daycare, pre-school and Head Start programs regulated by the city to get annual flu shots. The regulation also left the door open for the NYC Board of Health and Mental Hygiene to require any vaccines they choose. This case ultimately impacts every resident of New York State, if the City prevails in this case then all local governments will be able to impose their own vaccine schedules regardless of state law.
Aaron Siri, the attorney for the five families that sued NYC, is donating his time, but there are significant additional costs of fighting this suit and those costs will only grow through the various levels of appeal. Please support this suit, which is fighting to protect the rights of all New Yorkers, not just residents of NYC. Please help defray these costs by making a generous donation at :
Siri filed a brief recently to counter the City's appeal. He expects that oral arguments will be scheduled for sometime in early June. We will need to pack the courthouse to make a clear statement to the appeals judges that people in NY really care about these vital rights. So please plan on attending. We will get the time and place to you as soon as they are announced.
This appeal signals that this case will ultimately be decided by the NY Court of Appeals since it is a certainty that either side will appeal if they lose this intermediate round.
Please share this information with friends and family
and please post to social networks.

Beware of "Standard of Care"
High-Fructose Diet During Pregnancy May Harm Placenta, Restrict Fetal Growth
Dr Palevsky's Comments:
I
'm happy to see this article. Besides consuming way too much high-fructose corn syrup in our diets (a little is too much), I do not support the consumption of fruit juices, even if they are fresh-squeezed, and I am also not a supporter of eating fruit year round. In the Northern Hemisphere, and especially in the Northeastern part of the United States, fruit only grows here from mid-June to mid-October. Why? Fruit is really meant to help cool the body down during the hot-summer months. It is also meant to help us begin to store fat, due to the effects of fructose on the body, as we begin preparation for the cold winter months. I find it interesting that fruit only begins to grow in the Northeastern part of the United States right around the time of year (June 21) when the days begin to get shorter.............Just ask the bears why they eat berries off the trees.....

Dr Palevsky's Comments:
This is a supportive article in the mainstream media for those who understand that the development of neurological disabilities in children is a result of increased exposures to toxins, and a reduced capacity to detoxify these toxins.

Chronic illness in children has become an acceptable

Most of these illnesses can be prevented, and many of them can be relieved without pharmaceutical medicines.
In this 2-hour lecture, attendees will hear what dietary, lifestyle and medical decisions we can make to avoid the development of these illnesses, and safely treat them so our children can be more optimally well. Much of the lecture will focus on childhood asthma, allergies, eczema, neuro- developmental delays and vaccinations.
