Dear Friends,

The school year is off and running. Septemberfest is done and the air is a little more crisp. With the excitement of the new school year behind us, and our tanned skin fading with our Summer memories it is time to not only focus on the academic, but spiritual growth ahead.

Our focus and theme for this year is a simple one.  The message is laid out for us below.

The Greatest Commandment
(Deuteronomy 6:1-19; Matthew 22:34-40)
28Now one of the scribes had come up and heard their debate. Noticing how well Jesus had answered them, he asked Him, "Which commandment is the most important of all?"

29 Jesus replied, "This is the most important: 'Hear O Israel, the Lord our God is One Lord, 30 and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'e 31 The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' No other commandment is greater than these."

To truly build the community of caring individuals we desire it is important that we treat each other with the love, respect, and dignity that Jesus calls us to.  With this simple rule in mind our students will better live the message and create a supportive, caring, and loving environment for all students to learn.

Next week I will announce our first monthly "Good Neighbor" Students of the Month as recognized by the faculty and students of Assumption.  I hope that you will reinforce this message with your children and remind them often how we should respect ourselves and others, to think before we act and put ourselves in the shoes of others.

Many Blessings,
Steven J. Santoli
Principal
September fest

Thank you to the Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Council and Father Cipriani for making us a part of the annual Septemberfest.

Honey Bunch Face Painting was gracious enough to offer Assumption Catholic School 20% of their proceeds from the weekend.  Please support them at other events and consider them for your next party.

Friday Field Trips a Great Success

On Friday all students in grades K-8 met off campus to attend three all day field trips.  This was a monumental task, but with your patience and support it went off without a hitch.  The purpose of these trips were to give our students valuable learning opportunities outside the classroom as well as ease the burden on families that traditionally would need child care for that day.

With this success, plans are already underway to continue this offsite learning opportunity for future years as we need to vacate campus for Septemberfest preparations.

Student pride signs are still available at the school office.  These signs are printed in English and Spanish and are free of charge to all current families.
