A man looking to test Jesus asks about eternal life. Jesus points him to the law which the man was an 'expert' in. The law instructed people to love God with everything they have and their neighbors as themselves; do this Jesus says and you will have the eternal life you seek. The man wanting to justify himself and perhaps limit his responsibility asks Jesus, who is my neighbor? Jesus responds with the story known as the Good Samaritan in which it is neither the priest nor the worship leader that lends aid to the wounded man on the road but instead a person from a group that Israelites had grown accustomed to looking down on. This surprising goodness seen, in a Samaritan of all people, allows Jesus to turn around the question on the man. Jesus asks him, Which of these three, do you think, was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of the robbers? He said, "The one who showed him mercy." Jesus said to him, Go and do likewise. (Luke 10:36-37).
Neighboring is something we do. It is action that we take on behalf of others and our community. On October 31, as kids don costumes and seek candy, we have a chance to be neighbors to our community. You are invited to participate in our Trunk or Treat event. If you are interested in decorating your trunk and blessing kids with treats and a safe place to collect them please email Crystal Seiford.
While we would love to have you join us on Halloween, you need not wait until then to respond to the challenge Jesus gives to go and do likewise. Neighbors are all around us and the invitation to bring blessing to people that cross our path is a daily opportunity.
The U Worship Collective (our contemporary worship band) and the Robbie Seay Band will be leading a special worship event in partnership with Compassion International. Bring a friend as we all join in glorifying God in worship together.

As life happens, we can forget to inform our church family about changes to our information. New phone numbers, addresses, photos... We have two new pastors who would very much appreciate being able to put faces with names, so your help with this effort is more than appreciated!
