Parents: Our partners in education!

Basketball, pancakes and joyful service from HOPE parents
|
|
Imagine this scene: A packed gym. Basketballs pounding and swishing. HOPE scholars cheering on their parents and teachers in a friendly game of basketball. Everyone enjoying ice cream after the game as a little ribbing and some congratulatory pats on the back are exchanged.
This was the scene at the annual Parent vs. Staff Basketball game hosted at HOPE Fortis. This year we saw the largest crowd yet, with the HOPE Fortis parents hoisting the trophy when all was said and done.
Events like these are unique ways for parents to be involved in their child's education at HOPE, getting to know other parents and the staff in a friendly, fun atmosphere.
HOPE schools host other such events, too. HOPE Prima held their annual Pancake Breakfast for more than 200 scholars and their families. Pictured below is Mrs. Wilds and her energetic 1st grade scholars in attendance at the breakfast.
We are blessed to serve nearly 2,500 scholars in Milwaukee and Racine, which allows us the opportunity to work alongside our best partners: parents! Many parents serve in some way in their school-based Parent Leadership Organization. Some parents volunteer in classrooms and/or help other HOPE scholars through tutoring. There are so many ways to be involved with our HOPE school community, and we are grateful for the parental support we have.
Are you a HOPE Parent looking to get more involved? Contact the Dean of Students at your campus for more information!

HOPE High celebrates homecoming
|
|
HOPE Christian High School celebrated homecoming with a week of festivities and homecoming dance.
Lake Country Lutheran and HOPE Christian football players and coaches prayed together before the start of the game. We are so thankful for Christian education and athletics which makes this possible. Although HOPE lost the contest, we are all “more than conquerors” through Christ who loves us (Romans 8:37).

A few reasons why HOPE values community partnerships
|
|
Our HOPE Christian Schools are fortunate to work alongside many incredible local organizations in Milwaukee and Racine. The strength of our community engagement opens doors for our families and enhances our scholars’ educational outcomes.
- HOPE Caritas began “Fridays at the Y,” where students not only receive their typical daily instruction; they also have access to physical education, art, debate, health and drama classes. The Northwest YMCA, one of the many YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee locations, has been a gracious host of our scholars and staff.
- HOPE Semper has partnered with the Parklawn YMCA to provide after-school care options for scholars and families. HOPE Semper aims to be a school that meets community needs, and our parents shared feedback that indicated after-school care at the school as a dream of theirs.
- Our newest campus, HOPE Fidelis, is blessed to have Pastor Paul Steinberg, Executive Director of Chaplains in Schools Inc., ministering on campus every Thursday and Friday. If you ever met Pastor Paul, you know why our scholars and staff love having him around, sharing the Gospel of Christ in his friendly way. We are grateful for the support of The Kaztex Foundation who made this possible for our team & family.
- For all of our HOPE schools, the Hunger Task Force of Milwaukee has served as both a sounding board and advocate to ensure our scholars and families have access to high-quality food options. We are grateful for their continued support.
Do you know of other local organizations that would be interested in supporting our scholars with their own unique partnership? Email Melanie.Johnson@hopeschools.org to share more details!

The stage is set for a great year
|
|
Dear Friends of HOPE,
We have welcomed the entire team and family back and are settling into the 2016-17 school year nicely:
- Scholars are outfitted in crisp uniforms, conveying their commitment to excellence.
- Teachers have baseline diagnostic assessment data, and analysis of that data is complete.
- Instructional plans have been developed and adjustments are underway to deliver each scholar what he or she needs to grow.
We’re back!
This year we're serving nearly 2,500 scholars across seven campuses in Milwaukee and Racine with Christ. College. Character. We were busy over the summer with a number of facilities projects aimed at accommodating the growth in our student body.
- We acquired a new facility for the launch of HOPE Fidelis on Douglas Avenue in Milwaukee.
- We added two more classrooms and launched a partnership with the Milwaukee YMCA at HOPE Caritas on Brown Deer Road.
- We acquired more square footage and more classrooms for our growing high school on Dr. Martin Luther King Drive.
- We modified the entry and added office space at HOPE Fortis on Capitol Drive.
HOPE Christian Schools is growing up quite a bit, and it is an exciting time to be a part of the mission and the movement. Thank you for your continued support, and feel free to reach out or come by to see what's new in person. Please contact Melanie.Johnson@hopeschools.org to set up a tour.
Yours in Christ,
Zachary Verriden

HOPE Christian Schools is a network of seven Christian college preparatory schools serving more than 2,000 scholars and their families in Milwaukee and Racine.
Each HOPE school focuses on the “3 Cs” –
Christ. College. Character. HOPE scholars in K4-12th grades receive a values-based education that develops knowledge and cultivates character – the fundamental traits they need to become inspirations to their families, leaders in their communities, and successes in the workplace.
The HOPE Christian Schools are supported and managed by
Open Sky Education, an entrepreneurial, not-for-profit organization in tireless pursuit of a full and lasting education for all children. We were formerly known as "Educational Enterprises."
We changed our name in July 2016 to more clearly communicate the optimism we feel about the opportunities ahead for our organization and for each individual we are privileged to serve.
Now is a great time to join our growing team!
