Pioneers of our Cause--Warren Witson
Former board member Warren Witson died on August 9, 2016 at 97 years old. He spent much of his time serving the community and his church, St. Andrews Presbyterian. He was involved in the formation of the Social Action Committee, which became Interfaith Ministries (IFM) of Denton. Warren continued to guide IFM by serving on the board of directors.

"From the time of conception, they just felt like there was this need for communication between the ministries--that there were people that needed help," said Lynn Carrico, Warren's daughter. "He lived a long and amazing life."

Lynn said her dad was very active and still drove up until this past summer. He would have been 98 in December.

North Texas Giving Day Recap

On September 22, along with more than 60 other nonprofit organizations in Denton, IFM participated in North Texas Giving Day. This annual online fundraising serves as a great way for nonprofits all across North Texas to partner together to create awareness for their organizations and raise funds to support the programs they provide.

Additionally, here in Denton, our local nonprofits organized the Giving Day Denton event out on the Courthouse Square for the 3rd year in a row. Organizations of all shapes, sizes and missions gathered together to promote North Texas Giving Day and educate the community about our programs and services.

Through this event, IFM was able to raise more than $6,000 in support of the programs and services that we provide. Amazing! Thank you Denton for your continued support. We truly couldn't do it without you.

Join us for a great event benefiting the programs provided by Interfaith Ministries as you enjoy a wide sampling of wine, craft beers courtesy of Audacity Brewery, and hors d 'oeuvres prepared by the Classic Café. Come and enjoy the musical styling of a wonderful jazz trio endorsed by Denton's own musical legend, Thad Bonduris. Santa Loves Seniors

We are proud to announce that in 2016 we will be partnering with Heritage Oaks Apartments to provide Christmas care packages to 120 homebound seniors through Santa Loves Seniors this December. Due to increased health and safety concerns, it can be quite impossible for many of our senior community members to leave the home during the harsh winter months.

This program is aimed at serving homebound seniors during the holiday season by providing them with both essential and non-essential items that they may not be able to regularly go out and purchase on their own. Additionally, we would like to simply reach out to these folks during the holidays letting them know that someone is thinking of them, and that Interfaith is available to them if they should find themselves in need of our services.

In order to serve the needs of these seniors we need the help of community members just like you! Below you will find a list of items that we would like to include in the care packages to our homebound seniors. Please help us by taking donations at your place of work, your place of worship, or even amongst your family members to make sure that these members of our community are provided for this Christmas. Items needed:

small toiletries facial tissue lip balm
small hand lotions sugar free hard candy cocoa & tea packets
assorted individually wrapped snacks

Want to play Santa for a day? Come and volunteer with us as we distribute care packages at Heritage Oaks. For more information on how to donate or how to volunteer, please contact us at [email protected]
