These 2 weeks, Nathaniel and I are in Israel for four wonderful reasons:
-Visiting family and friends.
-Celebrating the engagement of our grandson, Yoav, to lovely Noa.
-Celebrating the publication of my memoir, Four Perfect Pebbles, in Hebrew by Yad Vashem, Israel's national museum and research center on the Holocaust.
AND -
Welcoming our Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah) this coming Monday and Tuesday.
The celebration at Yad Vashem opened with a greeting from Ella Florsheim who, along with Yasmine Garval, was so helpful in the publication process. Then Dr. Iael Nidam-Orvieto, my initial contact at Yad Vashem, spoke beautifully about the memoir, and what it means for it to have been published in Hebrew. We then made a L'Chayim (toast) over Israeli wine, and then enjoyed a lavish spread of pastries and fruit with a number of Yad Vashem staff members.
We were joined in the celebration by family and friends including our son Michael, his wife Rachel; Gavriel, our grandson, his wife Ariela; Dahlia, our granddaughter; and two close and dear friends, Lisa & Elimelech Cohen.
After the celebration, we went to the Yad Vashem Bookstore, where I was warmly welcomed by Hila, and store manager, Dianna, and given a prominent spot close to the entrance to sign books. There I had the opportunity to meet and speak with several Yad Vashem visitors from around the world.
Nathaniel and I take this opportunity to wish each of you, and your loved ones, a healthy, happy, sweet, and peaceful Jewish New Year!
Hugs,
Marion
