Principal Notes

Dear Parents,

Today we began Kindness Week with a visit from Katrina Manaloto '16.  Katrina brought Kindness Week to us last year and she returned this year to help us out.  She did a wonderful job of speaking to our students about what it means to be kind.  She gave examples and I loved it when she told the students that sometimes being kind is hard but that it is worth it.
We will celebrate Kindness all week with special activities. Tomorrow is the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi.  We will center our family activity around St. Francis who lived a life of kindness to all living things On Thursday students can wear Teal shirts/blouses with their uniforms in support of kindness and they will receive special bracelets to remind them to always be kind.

Portal Information is a link to a document with hints about the portals.  It has information on how you can sort the directory to find just your child's class and how you can print.  Additionally, we have posted the class lists on the front page of the portals under school links.  You will be able to find your child's class there.  If you need help with any of this, let us know.

Have a wonderful week!

Sincerely,
Jennifer

PARISH NEWS & EVENTS
RESPECT LIFE
Respect Life Month Begins October 1st and you are invited!

The month of October is a special time set aside to encourage all of us to reflect upon God's Gift of Life, the foundation of our faith.
Some ways to celebrate God's Gift of Life include:
-Set aside some quiet time to contemplate your relationship with your Divine Father.
-Attend Mass during the week.
-Receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist.
-Make a "Blessing List [1.Focus on one family member at a time. 2. Have others in the family write down a blessing that member brings to the family. 3.Share the list with each other.] Celebrate!
-Invite someone who is alone to share a family meal with you.
-Make a family member, friend or acquaintance a surprise appreciation basket.
-Write a letter or telephone an old friend or estranged family member.

During this month, too, your Respect Life Ministry, is celebrating its annual Crib Project.
In the church, set before our Blessed Mother altar is an empty crib. Teddy Bear Tags adorning it suggest a gift you might wish to place there. Take a tag home and return with your gift: a tangible reminder to mothers and their children that they are not alone, that God through us is with them.  The crib reminds us that it is up to each of us to fill our Life (as St. Paul says): with all that is "true, honorable, just, pure, lovely and gracious."
Gently used clothing is also appreciated from birth to 4 years old. Your gifts will be given to expectant and new mothers through the Pregnancy Help Center, Foothill Resource Center, St Anne's Maternity Home, and Holy Family Adoption Services. We will be collecting through the end of this month.

This month can be a time of grace, healing and great blessing. As the roses bloom in our Parish Respect Life Garden, may all of us set forth new buds and blooms of thanksgiving for the most precious of all gifts, our Gift of Life.  Contact Sheryl Valdez for more info!
