Hispanic Heritage Special Gift Will Help Develop New Hispanic Leaders

Hernando Saenz
MNA Hispanic American Ministries Coordinator Hernando Saenz
We need more qualified leaders for the growing mission field among Hispanic Americans. The MNA Barnabas Initiative for Hispanic Leadership development is our long term strategy to develop new leaders. Hispanic Heritage month is celebrated in the United Sates from September 15 to October 15.

For your church or individual giving, please consider a special gift in support of this initiative during this very special month for people of Hispanic heritage in the United States. Support for our Hispanic Heritage Initiative not only provides resources but is a tangible demonstration of our commitment to advance the gospel among our neighbors.

Sponsor Refugees? We Can Do That!
Motivated by the love of Christ as they heard about the worldwide refugee crisis, members of Trinity Park PCA in Morrisville NC reached out to World Relief about two years ago to inquire about co-sponsoring a refugee family.  Click here  to find out how the congregation rallied around this opportunity to do the work of the gospel and then had the joy of watching their ministry bear fruit. MNA Refugee & Immigrant Ministry can help you develop a similar ministry at your church. Contact Pat Hatch,  phatch@pcanet.org .
Thanksgiving Offering Helps Develop Future PCA Leaders

Alejandro DeLabastide, left, with Pastor Ben Turner
We have a challenge in the PCA. We want to plant churches in ethnic and economically fragile communities, but we don't have many leaders who come from those backgrounds. We at MNA are identifying potential workers and, through your generous support of the Thanksgiving Offering, providing funds to churches to raise up the next generation of leaders, like Alejandro DeLabastide at Strong Tower in Lakeland FL. After becoming involved with drugs, he let God turn his life around to become a Youth Ministry Intern while studying to prepare for ministry. Click here for more stories about the impact of the Thanksgiving Offering and learn how you can help.
You Can Support Our Chaplains Financially without Costing Your Church a Penny!
Help us get the word out regarding the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). MNA/PRCC Chaplain Ministries is an approved charity (CFC #38370) for federal employees to donate their payroll deduction gifts to.  We are asking churches to let their federal employee members and friends know about this opportunity to help support our Chaplains. Sample bulletin inserts and an info letter are on our website.  The Campaign runs from October 1 - December 15th, 2015.  Click here for more information.

Congratulations to LAMP Graduate Heath Glandon!

Leadership and Ministry Preparation (LAMP) is happy to introduce and congratulate its most recent graduate, Heath Glandon.  With a Bachelor's Degree in computer science, Heath was looking for a way to fulfill his calling to become a pastor. He graduated this month from the LAMP program with a Master of Divinity.

"After years of desiring to serve God in gospel ministry, I was frustrated. I looked longingly at Reformed Theological Seminary just a couple of hours away in Orlando but there was no way I could make time to attend, let alone afford it. In a final, passionate plea to the Lord one day in prayer, I told him I would no longer consider full-time ministry because all roads were closed. He would have to pay for it and find time for me to do it. The very next day an acquaintance told me I had missed my calling, that I should have been a pastor, that he would give me $1000 to begin seminary. That week I learned of a less expensive program, LAMP Theological Seminary, which would make it possible for me to study part-time. After years of waiting, God had answered my prayer. From start to end, God provided all my funding for school." Click to read more.

MNA SecondCareer Seeks Volunteer to Help Church Planter Manage His Contact Data

MNA SecondCareer Ministry has a variety of opportunities for lay people to assist Church Planters in ministry. For example, Brian Oaks of the Roswell Church Plant in the Metro Atlanta area is seeking a volunteer who can assist him with updating and consolidating contact information data from a number of sources into one master data base. This job could be done over the internet with no need to travel.    Learn more about this and other opportunities to serve at www.pcamna.org/second-career or contact Gary Ogrosky at gogrosky@pcanet.org (phone 770-695-4811).

The fall season reminds us of God bringing new life. Even as we enjoy the beauty of fall color from leaves dying, our thoughts are drawn to the grandeur of the coming spring, when new life begins. In this same way, we look forward to the Lord bringing new life as his people are faithful in proclaiming the gospel. Your gifts to MNA will be well used for that proclamation.

Church Planting
Church Planter Updates

Mark and Marci Robertston
Shaker Heights OH

Mark and Marci Robertson moved to Shaker Heights OH to plant The Heights Presbyterian Church (http://www.heightspres.org/) as a work of the NEO church planting network in the Cleveland Metro Area. Mark says, "This past week at Heights Pres. a number of our visitors were students from China, who had never been to a church before. This past Saturday a few of us attended a welcome picnic for students at Cleveland State...we continue to have great gospel conversations with unbelievers and have some new attendees who have just moved to Cleveland, looking for a good church, most of whom are from India, and I have been asked to participate in a soccer game with some of these guys..." Tim and Melissa Lien
San Gabriel Valley CA

Not letting any moss grow under THEIR feet, Tim and Melissa Lien and other leaders at The Way
(http://www.sgvtheway.org/), launched earlier this year in the San Gabriel Valley (CA) and itself a launch of Pacific Crossroads Church in Los Angeles, have already started plans for a second plant. Tim says, "Before our launch (and continuing now) our prayer for The Way has been: 'Jesus, do not expand our logo or our name. Expand yours...' May we be a church that gives, sends, reaches, and lets go of what we treasure - for a kingdom bigger than our own fiefdom. Almost any concern within a church community will take priority over imagining and pursuing another church plant. Because of this, we are taking early and intentional steps to begin the next church plant in southern California." Click here to read the story of how The Way is working with church planting apprentice Michael Gregory and his wife Beth to plant another church in the near future, and how you can pray for them.

Considering Church Planting?

"The assessors were the most valuable component of the AC...they were able to adjust to the variety and types of personalities that were represented with love and humility; a sense of peace came over me throughout the week...The week was stretching, revealing, humbling, Christ-glorifying and sovereignly used of God...Getting the opportunity to learn from others in church planting and peers interested in serving the Lord in a similar way. It doesn't happen often in the "real world" context and I felt supported and encouraged and challenged...Great time. Exceptionally organized and facilitated. So much grace and love for those attending."

The cost of assessment is less than half of one month's salary and operating expenses for a typical church plant, and is a very wise investment that individuals, churches and presbyteries can make in starting a new church.
Next ones open for applications: January 31-Feb 3 (application deadline November 14) and April 18-21 (application deadline February 20). Please note a three week lead time minimum is required prior to each application deadline in order to apply.
