Flicker Shack presents two free movies in January, on Monday nights at 6 p.m. in the Si Birch Community Room. On January 6, Latino Services will show the Spanish-language suspense film "The Orphanage." The Academy-Award nominated movie "Albert Nobbs," about a woman who pretends to be man in order to work in a 19th-century Dublin hotel, is the January 13 selection. There will be no film on January 20 (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day) and on January 27 (special event in the community room).

The Youth Services department will begin the year on a happy note, with a supercalifragilistic movie. On Thursday, January 2, at 1 p.m., a big-screen 50th anniversary version of the famous P. L. Travers children's book "Mary Poppins" will be playing in the Si Birch Community Room. This is a must-see for all ages, and if you know the lyrics, sing along!

Here are answers to two of the most commonly asked questions about the new system:

Q: How do I bookmark My Account?
A: Your old bookmark to My Account will need to be updated. First, access the Library's home page at http://www.sedonalibrary.org. Click the Library Catalog box in the middle of the page. This will open the catalog home page, which you can bookmark or add as a favorite site. Unfortunately, the catalog does not allow you to bookmark the My Account login screen.

Q: How do I access My Account from an e-mail link?
A: When you receive a library notice e-mail, click on the http://catalog.yln.info link, and then on the page that opens, under Public Library Catalogs, select Sedona/Village of Oak Creek Public Library Catalog. Log in to your account by clicking Log In or My Account at the top of the catalog home page.

  Rotating Artists Program: Quilts for Camp Soaring Eagle will be displayed until January 11. You still have time to purchase a raffle ticket to win a quilt of your choice. Proceeds from the raffle will benefit SPL-V and Camp Soaring Eagle. Beginning Tuesday, January 14, SPL-V will feature Bev Jenai's artwork exhibit entitled "Cowboys of Color." To commemorate Black History Month, a reception for the artist will be held Wednesday, February 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. at SPL-V.

• E-Reader Workshop: If you need help downloading free e-books from the Library, stop by SPL-V on Friday, January 17, between 9 and 11:30 a.m. Library volunteers will be on hand to provide assistance with your e-reader. You do not need reservations, but you will need to bring your e-reader, cables, library card, Amazon user account and password, or Apple ID.

• Program at Sedona Winds: On Monday, January 27, Brad Dimock will present "Lost in the Grand Canyon: The 1928 Disappearance of Glen and Bessie Hyde." This program, which is free and open to the public, begins at 1:30 p.m. at Sedona Winds Retirement Community, 405 Jacks Canyon Road. Following the presentation, you may pick up your loaner copy of "A Colorado River Reader," the book designated for the community book discussion in February.

As you reflect on this past year and make your resolutions for 2014, we hope you will consider leaving a lasting legacy that will benefit our community for years to come. Please consider including Sedona Public Library as a beneficiary of your estate. When you name Sedona Public Library in your will or estate plans, whether you give a few hundred dollars or many thousands, you are helping to ensure that the Library and all of its resources will continue for generations to come.

This past year, the Library received a pleasant surprise when we received a check for over $375,000 as a beneficiary of Joan Batchelder's IRA. Joan was a Massachusetts native who rose to the highest ranks in the fixed-asset division of Mass Financial Services, a mutual fund company. She became a part-time resident of Sedona and a library supporter. Sadly, she was diagnosed with cancer more than a decade ago and passed away in May of 2010.

Including Sedona Public Library in your estate is simple. You can add the Library as a beneficiary in your will, you can set up a charitable remainder trust, or you can even establish a charitable gift annuity. Please contact your financial advisor or estate attorney for details.
