Free Health Screening
Stop by the Library for a free health screening on Tuesday, July 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Si Birch Community Room. Funded through a generous grant from The Kemper and Ethel Marley Foundation and provided by Northern Arizona Healthcare, the screening measures cholesterol levels, blood pressure, and blood glucose.
Movies in July
The Flicker Shack film series presents three movies in July, showing on the Library's new high-definition projector. You'll notice a big improvement in the picture quality! Films start at 6 p.m. in the Si Birch Community Room. Please note that there will be no movie on July 28, due to the Sedona Railroaders display.
  • July 7: Latino Services presents Nosotros los Nobles, a comedy about the real-world challenges encountered by a trio of spoiled siblings.
  • July 14: The Invisible Woman, based on the true story of the secret romance between Charles Dickens and a young actress.
  • July 21: The Lunchbox, a romantic drama set in Mumbai, about two strangers who develop an unlikely connection.
Drama at the Library
On July 9, the Sedona Youth Theatre (SYT) program gets underway. Young thespians ages 10 through 18 will not want to miss this workshop opportunity to learn from two successful and hard-working professional actors.

With Dev Ross and Shondra Jepperson once again at the helm, SYT attendees will be introduced to a wealth of professional knowledge. A total of nine high-energy, interactive sessions, each one and a half to two hours long, will take place at 1 p.m. on weekdays beginning Wednesday, July 9, and ending on Friday, July 18. An afternoon performance open to the general public on Saturday, July 19, will showcase the work and enthusiasm of the participants.

Preregistration for SYT is required by visiting or calling Sedona Public Library. Thanks to Sedona Friends of the Library, participants can choose to volunteer in the youth department to earn a scholarship, thus eliminating the $75 workshop fee. Call 928-282-7714 ext. 119 for more information.
"New Arrivals" Collection Coming
In July, the Library will be reorganizing the shelving for our newly acquired items. In the area by the circulation desk, you will find all newly arrived books, DVDs, and audiobooks, which can be placed on hold. In addition, you can still browse our popular collection, a select group of additional copies that are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

These changes are in keeping with the Yavapai Library Network's new policy to allow reserves on all titles. With these changes, you will no longer have to wait to place the newest DVDs, books, and audiobooks on hold. If you need help placing holds, please ask for assistance at the reference desk. Sedona Library materials will continue to fill holds for Sedona patrons first, so be sure to place holds on new items you wish to borrow.
Blood Drive
Did you know that one pint of blood can save up to three lives? Make a difference in our community by giving blood at the American Red Cross Blood Drive on Wednesday, July 23, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Si Birch Community Room. The railroad exhibit is free and open to the public.
