Greetings from the Executive Director!

The Greater Valley Area Chamber of Commerce (GVACC) is starting our new fiscal year in October. 

We are excited about the new programs and events coming in  2016-2017. 

The Third Annual Native American Heritage Festival and PowWow is coming October 15th and October 16th. Please join us for this Family Fun Event. The gates will open Saturday 10 a.m. CST to 5 p.m. CST and Sunday 1 p.m. CST to 5 p.m. CST. 

Another exciting program for the month of October include the FREE! Affordable Care Act Seminar for the Greater Valley Area. To learn more about this seminar please click here. The seminar is open to ALL RESIDENTS in the Greater Valley Area. Please share this information with everyone you know. 

The GVACC evaluated our membership dues structure and made some changes. Membership renewals will be sent out in October. Please contact the Chamber if you have questions about your membership dues at chamber@greatervalleyarea.com or call 334-642-1411.

Special Community Events October 
   

October 14th - Point University Choir Concert

Admission is Free! Choir Concert will be given at the Point University Scott Fine Arts Building at 4 p.m., 6 p.m., and 8 p.m. EST.

October 15th - Point University Homecoming Parade

Point University will conduct their homecoming parade on Saturday, October 15th at 10 a.m. EST. The parade route will be through downtown West Point starting at 10th Street and finishing at 7th Street.

October 15th - East Alabama 4-H Chick Chain Show and Auction

Alabama 4-H youth from Lee, Chambers, and Tallapoosa counties will be showing their 22 week old pullets of various breeds stating at 10am. Birds will be open to view at 12 noon before the auction begins at 1 pm. For more information click on the title above.

October 15th - Point University Homecoming Football Game

Point University will play their homecoming foodball game at Valley Ram Stadium on Saturday, October 15th at 1 p.m. EST. Admission for Adults is $10, children 11 and under $5.00, and children 4 and under are free.

October 20th-22nd - The Crucible 
NHCT is bringing Arthur Miller's classic drama to life October 20-22nd.  Set during the Salem witch trials of the 1690s, this Tony Award winning play is a timeless parable of morality, a scorching indictment of intolerance, and a central work in the canon of American drama for over 60 years. October 29th - Bull-O-Ween

The Chambers County Sheriff's Rodeo Association is looking for sponsors for their Bull-O-Ween rodeo on October 29th at 7 pm CST. The deadline to become a sponsor is October 10th. To download the registration form please click here .

Debbie Kelley, GVACC Board Member
Regional Director of Sales 
Ram Hotels

Debbie Kelley is the Regional Director of Sales for Ram Hotels. She has been the Director of Sales for Hampton Inn & Suites Lanett/West Point for 6 years.  She oversees the sales managers for Lanett, Auburn, Montgomery and Birmingham.  She serves as President of West Point Rotary, member of Board of Directors for Chamber of Commerce, chair member of the Tourism committee, and serves on the Career and Technical Education Program Advisory Committee.
 
Debbie is married to Jamie Kelley and live in Valley, Alabama.  She is very active in her church where she plays the piano, teaches children Sunday School and children's church.  Her hobbies is camping, kayaking, playing piano, singing and performing with her 13 ventriloquist dolls.
