Unblock the records - and the sidewalks!
Development is booming, and the epidemic of closed sidewalks is a major concern for everyone who walks in Atlanta. During the spring, Public Works Commissioner Richard Mendoza agreed to make sidewalk closure permit records available to us.

Since then, we have asked Public Works repeatedly to send us spreadsheets or other documents the department uses to track sidewalk closures.

To our dismay, Public Works has not provided the information we requested. To remedy that, we recently sent an open records request to the Mayor's Office and to Commissioner Mendoza.

We'll keep you posted on our progress.  Meanwhile, please ask City Council members to support legislation that increases transparency and reduces sidewalk closures.
