On October 9, we commemorate THREE YEARS since Governor Brown signed the Self-Determination Law.

  • Self-Determination gives regional center consumers and their families more choice and control over the services and supports they receive.  
  • After creating a person-centered plan, the self-determination participant can choose a range of supports in the community that are unique and meet your needs.  YOU are in charge of your life!
 
We still don't have the Self-Determination Program!

VIRTUAL CANDLELIGHT VIGIL
FOR THE SELF-DETERMINATION LAW

Join us in calling for the Governor and his departments to prioritize getting the Federal Government approval for the program as soon as possible .
 
  • During the month of October, take a picture of yourself, your consumer family member, your client, and any other supporter holding a lit candle.

SAN JOSE STATE UNIVERSITY AUTISM RESEARCH 
QUICK PARENT SURVEY!

If you are the parent of a child with autism between 3-8 years old who attends preschool or school and/or receives behavior intervention services, you are invited to take a 5-10 minute survey regarding parental involvement in children's educational services. This research will hopefully inform education and intervention professionals as to how to best involve parents in their child's services. The project is being conducted through the San Jose State University Department of Special Education and has been approved by the SJSU Institutional Review Board. All responses are entirely confidential. Participants will have the option of entering a drawing to win one of two $25 gift cards upon completion of the survey.
