Plan to Attend MLA Fall Fling

Make plans now to attend the 2016 Fall Fling! The meeting is planned for Thursday-Friday, November 10-11, in Branson, Missouri, at the Hilton Promenade at Branson Landing. We'll have an all-star line-up of speakers so you can bring home ideas to implement right away.

This year's featured presentations will be:  "Investing in Key Employees," "The Seven Deadly Sins in Credit and Finance Operations," "Becoming a True Growth Leader," and "OSHA's Top Ten List." You'll meet MLA's current leadership, and also get a glimpse into government affairs. The price couldn't be better - registration is complimentary for members (nonmembers pay $225 per person). Your suppliers support the event and defray most of the cost for members.

You can make reservations now by calling the hotel at 417-243-3413 and requesting the Mid-America Lumbermens rate. The cut-off date is October 14 - and until then, the rate is $142 per night. Click here for your hotel reservation.

House Passes Six-Month Delay of Overtime Rule

Before adjourning for election season, the House passed a bill that would postpone the December 1 effective date of the Department of Labor's new overtime rule until the middle of next year. Senate action, if any, won't come until after election day. A possible delay in the implementation of a controversial new rule governing eligibility for overtime pay drew a step closer this week, though it's unclear whether it will be stopped before the effective date of December 1.
Late Wednesday night, the House passed bill H.R. 6094, which would delay implementation until June 1, 2017.
