Thursday, October 6 at 12:30 p.m. Special Lunch Bunch. All ages. Are you missing Lunch Bunch now that school has started? Well there's no school on the 6th, so pack a lunch and come on down for stories and a craft. It's just as fun as you remember. Not a drop off.

Every Saturday from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Gentle Hatha Yoga with Barrie Kavasch. Enjoy easy practical yoga postures designed to strengthen balance and the back. We focus on "mindfulness" and "relaxation" along with building strong bodies through strengthening bones, joints, and muscles with classic stretches. This small class concentrates on wellness and safety. Come join us for remarkable energizing through yoga without stress. Please register.

Saturday, October 15 at 10:00 a.m. Poetry Group. The workshop is free and open to all serious poets who want to develop their work and accept meaningful critique in a small circle of area writers. This workshop is led by author/illustrator E. Barrie Kavasch. Please register.   

Saturday, October 15 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Monthly Chess Club.
The competition is open to young and old, beginners to advanced. Team combinations are encouraged - for instance, grandparent and parent-child, co-workers, friends. If someone does not have a team, he or she will be matched up at the club. Please register.

Saturday, October 22 at 2:00 p.m. Book Lecture & Signing: Terrariums & You by Tovah Martin at the Kent Town Hall, 41 Kent Green Boulevard. Join us as the horticulturalist, author and photographer discusses her book The New Terrarium (Clarkson Potter/Publishers, a division of Random House, Inc. 2009). Martin presents the whimsical yet practical world of gardening under glass - a no-fuss way to bring snippets of nature indoors and intimate. Her book will be available for purchase and signing. Please register. Co-sponsored by the Kent Garden Club.
Art Exhibit: Happy Villages and Accidental Landscapes by Kent resident and fiber artist Karen Eckmeier. The exhibit runs until October 31.

Saturday, November 5 at 2:00 p.m. The Fine Art of DeCluttering. Declutter by Deirdre will present the fine art of decluttering, organizing and right-sizing your home. Deirdre will speak about getting rid of stuff and keeping it moving out of your home. The presentation will put a positive focus on what can be an overwhelming and emotional task. Please register.

Saturday, November 5 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Poetry & Music Night. Anyone who is interested in playing or reading their own or a favorite poem, is invited to join in or listen. Refreshments will be served. Reading Room. Please register. 

Sunday, November 6 at 2:00 p.m. Book Talk & Signing by Burt Visotzky. Join us as the prolific author from Kent and professor at the Jewish Theological Seminary, Rabbi Burton Visotzky will be discussing and signing his new book Aphrodite and the Rabbis: How the Jews Adapted Roman Culture to Create Judaism as We Know It. He is an active patron/volunteer in Kent and at our Library. His book will be available for purchase. Please register.

Come experience the latest trend in relaxation - adult coloring books! Studies show coloring can have a calming effect on the adult mind and help to promote overall wellness. It is one of the latest ways in reducing stress, and not to mention, extremely popular. Kent Senior Center, 16 Swifts Lane, Kent. Volunteers are needed to do tasks such as: Set Up, Book Sorting, Book Pricing, Table Stocking, Opening & Closing (tarping) and more. Please email Eric Cieplik at [email protected] or sign-up at the front desk at the Library.
 
Book Donations are always welcome!
We are pleased to accept your books year round.If you have a large donation, please call ahead to facilitate unloading the books at the old firehouse.

We can you give a tax card for a charitable donation. All sales benefit the Kent Memorial Library. We are always especially in need of current fiction, including children's books, jigsaw puzzles, movies on DVD, music and books on CDs, and non-fiction books. (there are particuar items we cannot accept, such as magazines, Reader's Digest condensed books, older textbooks, VCR tapes, encyclopedias, books which have a mildew odor, records, books on cassettes.)

It's that time of year when your favorite plants are going to seed. Consider saving some of those seeds for our seed library. We have small seed envelopes for those interested. Also as you are putting away or contemplating throwing away this year's open seed packets consider donating them to the Seed Library. We need to fill up our seed drawers for next year! Many patrons took advantage of our first year offering seeds - lets keep it going!
