   It was a busy week for Archbishop Gregory Aymond. He celebrated Mass for the 175th anniversary of St. Augustine Church in Treme and for the 125th anniversary of Our Lady of Lourdes in Slidell. Check out the Oct. 8 issue for the stories and pictures.

   At the annual Red Mass marking the start of the judicial year, local judges and attorneys were urged by Dominican Father David Caron to use their profession for the common good, particularly the defense of the poor and marginalized.  

   Have you ever wondered how you can find the tomb of someone who lived long ago? The New Orleans Catholic Cemeteries Office has an invaluable website feature that allows you to look up the burial place of anyone by using a simple name search.

   Archbishop Aymond gives a report on the financial gifts, volunteer service and prayers that have helped Louisiana flood victims recover from their losses. Individuals have contributed more than $654,000 for flood relief. 

   About 100 pro-life advocates rallied for a life chain on Oct. 1 in front of the Planned Parenthood clinic on South Claiborne Avenue.

   The archdiocese bid farewell to Father Tony White, a former missionary priest who came to the archdiocese in the 1970s and had a specialty of helping people with alcoholism. He died at the age of 88 and was buried at St. Joseph Church in Gretna.

   A new musical by musician John Angotti based on the Book of Job is giving people a better idea about the idea of redemptive suffering. 

   The Center of Jesus the Lord, which is home to charismatic Catholics, is celebrating its anniversary of moving uptown to Our Lady of Good Counsel Church on Louisiana Avenue.
