For your body and soul
Dear Sam,

1. You are the sum of all things on this planet and beyond. You are the rich collection of all thoughts, ideas, beliefs, colors, elements, myths, liberties, sins, wisdom, energy, and light that ever existed. (In other words, if you could make a list of all the millions of pieces of this universe, YOU ARE THE SUM OF ALL OF THEM. Because you were born out of this universe!)

2. The idea of "you" that you see in the mirror, is the unique combination of those pieces that stand out. Highlights and shadows. Highlights and shadows. You are as much the things you celebrate about yourself as you are the things you avoid and suppress. In fact, the more you avoid and suppress certain ideas and elements of this world, the more they become enhanced within you.
3a. There is a truth called "resonance". Resonance works like the video below. Like two matching tuning forks. When we encounter people in our lives (or on television, characters in a book, etc.) or elements of the universe (like the stars, or a hawk, or the ocean) that stun us with awe--that we just adore, they are resonating with a part of OUR OWN SELVES that is strong, or that we feel proud of. For example, I love my grandmother because she was always curious and learning. A vibration happens inside me when I think of her because WE ARE THE SAME on that level. It holds true for the infinity of the stars, the majesty of the hawk and the power of the ocean, if you resonate with those things, for example.
3b. But here's the other side of that coin. Resonance also holds true for our shadows. So, when we get stirred up, frustrated, judgmental, or angry toward a person, issue (such as waste, animal cruelty, government overspending, gay marriage...) or element of the universe ("I just really hate sand"), those things are resonating with (matching) a hidden, shadow part of ourselves. For example, someone may get riled up about a business not offering equal pay to women, but likely deep down they are not treating others with equality and haven't realized it.
4. Most people live in the duality tug of war: in favor of some things/people/elements and against others. This is a painful way to experience life, and it doesn't progress our planet any farther forward.

5. The only way to find internal peace is to love your way into wholeness. It is easy to push down, yell at or disgrace the parts of us that we do not want to look at. But guess what? It's not just you, remember? We each are the SUM OF ALL THINGS. Pushing part of ourselves away only leads to more suffering because we're broken inside. Instead of pushing away, we have to learn to LOVE THE VERY PARTS OF US WE ARE AFRAID OF.  First, admit that they exist. Then pull them out from the shadows and talk to the qualities (be it "inept", "angry", "lazy", "irresponsible", or "lustful" for example) as though they were people themselves (personify them). Speak LOVINGLY, and apologize for pushing them away. Sweetly invite them to sit at the table with you because you need them present to be whole. Heck, ask them to curl up next to you. Hold them with sincere love.
6. When we collect and honor the whole of us, we release the tug of war, the duality, the separation between even you and me.

This has been an extremely healing process for me, Sam. We are here to make the world better than we found it. Remember always to begin with the journey in, ask questions and feel what shows up in your body.
What is creating resonance within you?

Final Thought:

"
The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!" And the head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need you!" On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it."
