Ray Dalman Retires
Af ter 37 years in Waukesha, WI, it is time for Atlantic Aviation's GM, Ray Dalman to officially hang it up, while he enjoys retirement with his wife and two grandchildren.

Ray's UES career began in 1979 where he was a multi-faceted LST, mechanic, and snowplow driver. He later assumed the role of Line Service Manager in 1986 when Waukesha Flying Services purchased the FBO. He was a natural fit for the Atlantic Aviation General Manager role when the opportunity became available in 2013.

He has been a great mentor and friend to his employees and a champion to his customers. His vast array in local and industry knowledge and devotion to ensuring all facets of FBO operations run smoothly will be missed. We wish Ray a very relaxing retirement where he will spend his time cycling, golfing, and traveling.
Welcoming Nick Read, Atlantic Aviation GM
Please join us in welcoming the new General Manager at Atlantic Aviation, Nick Read!

Nick has worked extensively for Atlantic Aviation while assuming roles of Line Service Supervisor, Customer Service Manager, and most recently, Operations Manager in two of Atlantic's most robust markets in Midway (MDW) and Las Vegas (LAS). His positive attitude, energy, passion for the industry and focus on customer relations make him well-positioned for this new opportunity.

He currently resides in Lindenhurst, IL with his wife, Christine and two children, Kiana-Rae and Tyler.

Welcome aboard!

He can be reached at 262-549-6150 or email: [email protected].
In Memoriam: Terry J. J. Kohler
It is with much sadness that we report the passing of a great supporter of aviation in the state of Wisconsin. Terry J. Kohler, 82, of Sheboygan, passed away Tuesday afternoon, September 20, 2016 at his residence.

Born May 14, 1934 in Sheboygan, Kohler was the only son of the late former Governor Walter J. Kohler Jr. and Marie Celeste McVoy Kohler. In 1952, Terry graduated high school from the Admiral Farragut Academy. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1959 where he earned his pilot's wings and flew T-33 fighter jets and also B-47 bombers with the Strategic Air Command, including missions over Russia.  Kohler achieved the rank of Captain.

Summer has come to a close and the autumn weather was not far behind. We are busy planning for the upcoming ramp construction project, snowfall preparations and looking forward for a busy 2017 with the U.S. Open event occurring at Erin Hills Golf Course in June!

If you haven't checked out The (b)Log Book, please do so! This is Waukesha County Airport's newest venture to engage with the aviation community with  practical and helpful advice. This month, discover the value of business aviation, highlighting UES's own Rick Davidson.

Thank you all who participated in the airport users survey - your feedback is helpful as we continue our efforts for a well-planned and user-friendly airport.

The snow will be flying soon, so please do get out an enjoy fall-color-flying while it's here!

Thank you and fly safe,
Kurt

The Value of Business Aviation
As the president and CEO of Cimphoni, a rapidly growing IT consulting firm serving Fortune 1000 companies throughout the United States, traveling to meet with clients and members of his team is a constant for Rick Davidson. Like so many of his fellow business travelers, for many years Rick made his way to meetings and presentations via commercial air travel. However, the frustrations that often accompany business travel were magnified for Rick, an experienced recreational and aerobatic pilot who earned his commercial pilot's license many years ago. Operations Update by Matt Grenoble

Winter Preparations
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but summer is officially over and we are in full winter preparation. We'll be conducting training with the snow removal contractors in October, so don't be alarmed to see snow equipment driving around the airport. Hopefully we're at least a couple of more months away from the first snow storm!

If you will be hiring contractors other than Snow Patrol to remove the snow at your hangar, please be sure they have received the driver training and an airport badge. It is very important that contractors have received training from us so that they are aware of where snow can and cannot be piled. Any unbadged contractors will be escorted off of the airport. They can contact us at 262-521-5250 to schedule driver training.

Ramp Project Construction
This fall we will be breaking ground on the West Terminal Ramp expansion project. The expanded ramp is necessary to accommodate two new hangars that will be built within the next year. The plan will be to grade out the areas west and north of the existing ramp before winter and then pour the concrete in the spring when weather allows. The goal is to have it open and available for aircraft parking by the 2017 U.S. Open in June. There should not be any impacts to normal operations during construction. We will maintain the construction page on our website, so please check it for updates.

Runway 10/28 Reconstruction Receives National Aviation Project of the Year Award
The Waukesha County Airport received the National Aviation Project of the Year award for our runway reconstruction project in 2015 from the American Concrete Pavement Association. Kurt and Matt will attend the awards banquet to accept this award in December.

The ACPA Annual Awards for Excellence in Concrete Pavement are designed to honor quality concrete pavements constructed in the United States and Canada each year. The awards program encourages high-quality workmanship in every concrete pavement project and serves as a forum for sharing information about highly successful projects.
This program recognizes contractors, engineers, and project owners who completed outstanding projects. Winning an Award for Excellence in Concrete Pavement provides the contractors, engineers, and owners with a level of prestige that can assist them in the development of future projects.
