Drain and Cover
Friday, October 7, 2016

Dear Residents,

In light of the recent rains from Hurricane Matthew, we wanted to remind you of the importance to drain and cover.

Teams are working hard to make sure that we are eliminating any standing water in the City. In the event there is standing water in the public right-of-way, Public Works takes measures to remove or disburse the water.

We ask that you walk around your property and check for any standing water.  Remember that it only takes a cap full of water to allow a mosquito to breed.  Drain water from garbage carts/cans, recycling containers, house gutters, pool covers, boat tarps, barbecue grills/covers, flower pots and any other containers which can hold water.

If you identify water that has been standing for more than 24 hours, please report it to either Public Works or Code Compliance through our eGov app or via telephone at 305.673.7625.  You can also notify Miami-Dade County with any concerns via their 311 app.

The City of Miami Beach continues to work closely with Miami-Dade County and the Florida Department of Health to minimize mosquitoes in Miami Beach.
