The Guild's Connecticut Regional Rep, Charlene Donaghy, along with Dramatists Guild Member William Squier and Curtain Call, Inc. of Stamford, CT, are pleased to offer Dramatist Guild members an exciting and unusual day-long intensive titled "Achieving Goals: A Directing Intensive for Playwrights".
Playwrights will work with international director David Kaplan who, in the past year alone, has directed in South Africa and Ghana, as well as throughout the United States. You can find more on Mr. Kaplan at: http://davidkaplandirector.com/
David Kaplan works with the reality that "acting is the art of human relationships". In this day-long seminar, we'll look at how, as playwrights exploring directing craft, we achieve our goals. We'll begin with a "theory session" to determine what those goals are. We'll learn related vocabulary and how to observe actors in their craft. We'll then move to "take it out for a spin", which means actors will rehearse then receive critiques. We'll have practical work with David and the actors.
Registration is limited to the 20 participants. Morning coffee and a light lunch of sandwiches and chips will be served. This event is free for Dramatists Guild members, who are highly encouraged to register prior to October 28. DG members in CT, NY, MA, and RI are welcome!
