Fall Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance -
October 6-9
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SHAKORI HILLS GRASSROOTS FESTIVAL PROVIDES OFF-CAMPUS OPPORTUNITIES FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS

PITTSBORO, N.C. - College students are encouraged to attend the 13 th annual fall Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance in Pittsboro, North Carolina from Thursday, Oct. 6 to Sunday, Oct. 9. The festival will span four days with four stages and over 50 bands on Shakori Hills' beautiful 72-acre land. Besides the diverse music selection, which features artists like Béla Fleck and Abigail Washburn, the festival will feature local craft and food vendors, healing arts practitioners, dance workshops and a vinyl lounge. From music to the arts, there is something for everyone to enjoy at the GrassRoots Festival. Shakori Hills is not far from any of the Triangle or Triad, NC colleges.
"There's so much out here for students," festival co-coordinator Sara Waters said. "Obviously the music is a big draw - lots of great local bands and some amazing touring acts. But there are also various activities and ways to be involved in the greater community that students might not get on campus. It's also a great way to just get off campus for a while and camp out in the woods without being too far away."
Festival attendees are also given the opportunity to enhance their experience through camping. Ticket holders can pay extra to camp with a tent or vehicle. Those who are of legal drinking age can bring their own alcohol to enjoy at their camp site. Inside the festival, alcohol will also be available for purchase through various vendors. For those students without transportation interested in attending the festival, there is a Facebook ride share group available.
The Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance is a collaboration between the Shakori Hills Community Arts Center and the GrassRoots Festival Organization, providing a family-friendly celebration of music, dance, art and education. For information regarding the Facebook ride share group, visit https://www.facebook.com/groups/192218520849318/. For other general information about the festival and the organization, see below.
