Centennial Flashback
|
It was reported at the 1960 Manufacturer's Council that there is "considerable unskilled labor in the area; however, far too many students are coming out of local high school without any exposure to trade training... The representatives in both conferences again were in agreement as to the need for an Area Technical School to better serve the needs of those students who will not go to college, as well as to better meet the needs of local industries."
The Lebanon County Career and Technology Center was established in 1968 and has done a great job of meeting the needs of the students and businesses in the Lebanon Valley.

Leadership Lebanon Valley
|
|
If you or a member of your staff have an interest in learning about the important issues and challenges facing the Lebanon Valley, meeting the individuals who chart the course for our community and receiving training in leadership skill areas, then Leadership Lebanon Valley is the program for you!
I was a member of the 2015 Leadership Lebanon Valley Class, also known as the best class ever (the caveat is that every Leadership class believes their class is the best ever).
The Leadership pr
ogram was eye-opening and beneficial all around. I remember the first few days of orientation when a group of strangers were huddled together in a cabin partaking in team building exercises and developing their leadership qualities. While we started off as strangers, we quickly became acquainted with one another. By the end of the program, apart from making life long business connections, genuine friendships were made and which continue to this day.
Apart from the people, the benefits of the program are invaluable. First, the program was flexible and not very demanding, which appealed to me as I was concerned about the time commitment and completing my day-to-day duties as an attorney. Apart from the orientation, only one day per month for one year was required to complete the program. Second, the program provided what felt like limitless opportunities to learn all that Lebanon County has to offer, a sample of which was learning about the education, agricultural, and cultural aspects of Lebanon County.
My recommendation for anyone considering this program is to not be passive, but jump in feet first. The program will help you learn about the county and help you as an individual and/or business leader.
- Joe Crowe, 2015 Leadership Lebanon Valley Graduate
Leadership Lebanon Valley, a program of the Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce, provides a unique opportunity for individuals to gain an overview of the Lebanon Valley area and to develop leadership skills and knowledge that will benefit themselves, their employers and our community. We hope that you will take a minute to consider being part of this program. You can download the
application as well as the
scholarship application if you feel you need help with the fees.
