First Board and Advisers retreat for OBAT!

The 12th birthday cake
The last weekend of September was a very important one for OBAT, which celebrated its 12th birthday with some very special people. Some members of OBAT's board and advisory group traveled to Indianapolis from all over the US for a two day retreat to discuss the present and future direction of OBAT. Those who could not join physically tried to participate through teleconferencing. Members of OBAT staff in Bangladesh joined the board meeting on the second day via google hang outs. The first day ended with a cozy celebration and dinner with OBAT's closest supporters in Indianapolis. Tonos Triad provided some soulful music and the young members of the OBAT volunteer crew helped cut the cake. For more photos, please

Human Centered Design Training

The participants of HCD training with trainer, Immad Ahmed

OBAT Helpers and BMSS (Bangladesh Medical Student's Society) collaboratively organized a "Human Centered Design" workshop. HCD is a creative approach to problem solving. It's a process that starts with the people you're designing for and ends with new solutions that are tailor-made to suit their needs. The training session was three days long (17th -19th September and held at Dhaka Medical College). More than one hundred medical students participated in the training.  Some of OBAT's volunteers and executives also participated. Activities and brainstorming sessions were organized along with prototyping of solutions. The medical students created some projects for camp dwellers by just hearing about the issues from OBAT's volunteers. This training was conducted by, Immad Ahmed, the COO of OBAT.
