Public Power Week
The week of October 2-8, 2016, will mark Public Power Week as a country-wide program to celebrate the importance of public power to local citizens and other key publics, including state and national officials.

As a not-for-profit enterprise, owned and operated by the City of Rancho Cucamonga, RCMU is proud to provide electricity service to our customers with a track record of lower rates, reliability, and public service.
  • We are proudly driven by public service, not profit.
  • We exist to serve you - Our loyalty is to our customers - not stockholders.
  • We help to make Rancho Cucamonga a good place to live and work.
  • We take pride in our governance structure, with an elected City Council.
  • We are accountable to you, not to management and board of directors in another city or county.

You can rest assure that RCMU will continue to keep electricity costs low in order to attract and keep businesses in the community, which is good for everyone here in Rancho Cucamonga. We thank you for your support of public power as an American tradition that works in the City of Rancho Cucamonga.

Energy Awareness Month

The month of October is the 25th anniversary of Energy Awareness Month and a great time to start thinking about your energy use. RCMU would like to encourage our customers to find simple ways to use electricity more efficiently every day. By making a few changes you will help to lower your monthly electric bill as well as contribute to a healthier environment.

Here are a few simple tips to get started:

  • At night when you are sleeping, turn down the thermostat 10-15 degrees. Over eight hours, you can save up to 5-15 percent a year on your heating bill.
  • Clean refrigerator coils with a handheld vacuum to clean and rid loose particles and dust so it won't have to work as hard.
  • Replace air filters to help your system run more efficiently.
  • Turn off office and/or home equipment when not in use.
  • Purchase Energy Star office equipment or home appliances when possible.
