Start the Year Off with OGAP

Welcome back to a new school year. We hope things are off to a great start!  It was great to see so many of you at OGAP Multiplicative Training this summer.

You may not be teaching multiplication or division right away, but you can still start off the year with OGAP to strengthen your students' multiplicative reasoning.

Remember you have a few resources to help you look at student work, plan for instruction and regularly gather information about your students' progress. You have the OGAP Multiplicative Reasoning Progression you received this summer and the OGAP Multiplicative Reasoning Item Bank full of short, focused tasks to use as entrance or exit questions or warm-ups in your classroom.
Here are a few things you can do to help you strengthen your students' multiplicative reasoning:
  1.  Administer and analyze the OGAP Multiplicative Reasoning Pre-assessment to see what your students understand and the strategies they use to solve problems. You can find copies of the pre-assessment HERE.
  2. Use OGAP items from the OGAP Multiplicative Reasoning Item Bank regularly, 2 or more times a week, to help make informed instructional decisions. See below for a few suggested items to start the year with. You can find the item bank HERE.
  3. Meet with your colleagues to examine student work and collaborate around instructional decisions.
We realize you are implementing a new math program and are confident that the strategies above will help to enhance the implementation of your math program.
