A Note from Frankie

Dear Friends, 

I am so delighted to officially announce our new website.  There is so much information there for you in one place.  You can check out the latest workshops, register for classes, make purchases and so much more.  Joyce and I  would love for you to take a look and give us your feedback!  We have incorporated the suggestions many of you have made over the past few years and will continue to grow and transform now that we have launched our new design. 


As I reflected on workshop themes for the close of 2016, I felt drawn to create a yin/yang balance for us through the practice.  Sometimes in our lives we are in a transition that is asking for reflection, rest and recovery, while sometimes we are wanting to fly.  And so, I am offering an opportunity for you to experience both.  On Saturday, October 15th we will take flight in  Arm Balances: Right Side Up & Upside Down. The art of alignment is profoundly at play in these poses as we learn that strength is a only one part of the secret to our success. Yogis who are new to these poses are invited to come to the workshop.  To quote one of my teachers:  "The pose is not necessarily the pose, the direction is the pose."  The question then is are you going in the right direction? This workshop will give you the direction.  Then later in the year as the holiday season is upon us, I am offering  Holiday Yoga Nidra on November 19th.  In this time together we will relax and renew through restorative poses and yoga nidra (the sleep of the yogi).   We will breathe into the holidays.

I look forward to sharing both of these experiences with you.  In my own practice, I find that it is the balance of these qualities that create a "strong body, quiet mind."

Arm Balances: Right Side Up & Upside Down

Saturday, October 15th, 2016 1-4PM

Build upper body strength, improve balance, move past fear, develop confidence and grace with yoga poses like Crow, Plank, Chataranga, Handstand, Forearm Stand, Firefly + more.

This workshop is designed for yoga students who practice regularly and have a clear understanding of the basic level yoga poses.  The ability to hold downward facing dog for one minute is a prerequisite for this course.

Unlock the secrets to many yoga arm balances by learning the precise positioning for each pose.  New to these poses? Learn the perfect precursors to the more challenging arm balances now.

Tai Chi can perhaps best be thought of as a moving form of meditation.

It is a self-paced, noncompetitive, graceful form of exercise appropriate for all levels of fitness. Learning to do the forms correctly builds bone density as it increases muscle strength, flexibility and overall coordination. Practicing Tai Chi contributes to better standing, walking, and seated postures. Practitioners realize benefits including improved balance and posture, stress relief and ease of movement in life's daily activities.

Experiencing Tai Chi as meditation in motion creates a calm and tranquil mind.
 
This series is open to everyone.

About Aerial Yoga:
Students registering for Aerial Yoga should be able to hold a plank pose for 30 seconds, have no contraindications for inverting (hanging upside down), and have no recent spine, hip or shoulder injuries.
