FILMING IN JASPER COUNTY
Twentieth Century Fox was recently filming in the county at the Jasper County/Newton County line on Marben Farm Road.  Diary of a Wimpy Kid- The Long Haul which is a feature film is currently filming in and around the Atlanta area until November 14th.
 
The Camera Ready program is managed through the Monticello-Jasper County Chamber of Commerce and we work closely with Shane Sealy in the Planning and Zoning office and Captain Mike Steele with the Jasper County Sheriff's Department.

Monticello Personal Care Home located on Eatonton Street in Monticello had a
grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony  on September 1st.

BUSINESS HIGHLIGHT
 OF THE MONTH

Our October Visitors' Center display is by YELLOW ROSE FARM COMPANY.   Yellow Rose Farm is owned by Jason and Shannon Lawrence and located in Shady Dale. They are a registered 
Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goat farm. They make goat milk bath soaps, shampoos, and products including goat cheese.  They are Georgia Grown certified .  

DEER FESTIVAL HAPPENINGS
Join us this year as we celebrate 50 years of hunting, fishing and living in Jasper County!!!  This year we have added an exhibit area that includes Georgia Agritourism, Dauset Trails, Forest Service and more.  We have a demonstration area that includes yarn spinning, duck call lessons and more.  We will have the GREAT WALL DISPLAY and taxidermists will be displaying their artistry (located in the Visitors' Center).  Add that to the Deer Dash, Parade, great Entertainment, Food, Handmade Arts and Crafts, Children's Activities, etc...we look for this to be the best festival on record...!!!  Make plans to experience this 50 year tradition - come to the festival.

PARADE
We are now accepting parade applications. It is FREE to participate.  We are looking for floats and themed entries.  Let's make this the best parade ever!!!
1st Place receives $200.00
2nd Place receives $100.00
3rd Place receives $50.00



FESTIVAL T-SHIRTS 
The annual festival t-shirt will be ready for opening day of deer season!  The safety-orange shirt is $20.00 for long sleeve and $15.00 for short sleeve.  Get yours now and wear it the day of the festival!




JASPER IS HERE!
The new Jasper County mascot has arrived and will be visiting throughout the county all year.  Look for him at a local ballgame and he'll be front and center at the
Deer Festival!

MEMORY QUILT DONATED TO THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
TO BE AUCTIONED OFF AT ANNUAL MEETING
ON DISPLAY NOW IN VISITORS' CENTER WINDOW
Mindy Clotfelter of Stitches of Monticello donated her time to make two memory quilts for the Monticello-Jasper County Chamber of Commerce.  The quilts are made with previous annual Deer Festival and Deer Dash t-shirts.  The quilt is now on display in the Visitors Center window.  Raffle tickets will be available during the Deer Festival through the end of the year and a winning ticket will be drawn at the Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting in January 2017.
 
Stitches of Monticello does custom window treatments, memory quilts and more.   Mindy goes into homes measure windows, helps in the selection of proper décor for window treatments and bedding, etc.  Her favorite projects are making memory quilts such as the t-shirt quilt.  She makes memory quilts from Mom and Dad's clothing or military uniforms of those who died in combat, etc.
