Foundation mourns death
of Cheng Yu-tung GBM, founder of Chow Tai Fook

Hong Kong, October 6, 2016: The Chairman and Board of the World Diamond Mark Foundation
(WDMF) mourn the passing of Mr. Cheng Yu-tung GBM , founder of the Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group.
Mr. Cheng was one of the pillars of the diamond, gem and jewellery retail industry in Hong Kong and greater China. His vision, reach, resolve and success in  developing consumer demand in the world's largest consumer market remain unmatched and will forever be remembered.
The WDMF will especially remember Mr. Cheng
since -- by means of his son Peter Cheng who holds a seat on the WDMF board -- the CTF company was the first retail jewellery chain to support the WDMF and its objectives to drive consumer demand for diamonds and diamond jewellery in China and the world.
On behalf of the World Diamond Mark Foundation, and the diamond industry and trade at large, we express our deepest sympathies and offer our sincere condolences to the family and to the employees of the CTF company.
