Safe Streets bike safety trainings
This summer, PCC led two Safe Streets bike safety courses, based on both our school curriculum and our videos. Find out why we have so much fun using this curriculum designed by the Safe Streets team for South Carolina. The Safe Streets Save Lives program is a collaboration between the Palmetto Cycling Coalition, BikeLaw, the SC Department of Public Safety, and a growing group of ambassadors across our state.
A Road Safety what?
We recently led a conversation at the SC Department of Public Safety, Highway Safety (SCDPS) Conference, that opened doors in opening meetings to collaborative leaders in bicycle and pedestrian safety. We're talking about
Road Safety Audits (RSA's).
If you work well with your city leaders and know a street with a history of crashes involving motor vehicles and vulnerable road users (on bike or foot), inquire about an RSA. This federally funded process guides a collaboration of leaders within every user group, law enforcement, road engineering, and other disciplines - to find cost effective solutions to street safety problems. If you have this good relationship with your town, ask about participating in an RSA. We got the conversation going to include all user groups, and we can help you get involved. Contact us with questions.
