Dear Families,
The last few days have reminded us what summer feels like. Today is the first day of autumn and now we know that summer is officially over. The cool nights are a reminder that Wisconsin's weather is ever changing.
At the end of the school year last year I told you that I would be looking for an art teacher for grades K5-4th grade. Unfortunately, I interviewed candidates this summer and found none of them to be a good fit for St. Mary's. Our Jr. High students work with a wonderful artist by the name of Marina Lee. If you look around our building you will see all the awesome art that we have, including the large sculptured chair in the library. These were all created by her and the Jr. High students. I have contracted for her come 12 times this school year to work with our K5-4th grade students. She will be working with our 5th-8th grade students 8 times this year. We are fortunate to have her with us.
We have updated our Student/Parent Handbook. It has been added to the left under Permanent Links. Please look under the uniform section for what is acceptable. I am seeing some things that are not acceptable according to the handbook.
Don't forget that Saturday, October 1st is our Annual Trivia Night. There is still time to put a group together for this fun night. New families, we would love to see you there. Once again, our own Mr. Falk, 5th-8th grade math teacher (and who has appeared on Jeopardy nine times) will be hosting.
This month the
Archdiocese of Milwaukee's focus for the Jubilee of Mercy is the corporal Work of Mercy, "Clothe the Naked." Watch this video from Fr. Ken Omernick, Archdiocesan Missionary of Mercy, describe a teacher he once knew who reached out to her students and lovingly practiced this Corporal Work of Mercy.

Grade 8 students participate in the International Day of Peace Prayer Service on Wednesday September 21, in our church. This service is an annual event offered by the School Sisters of Notre Dame.

SMV Office Information
Everyone who enters the school and wants to go past the office must sign in. Even if you are dropping your child off in the morning.
It is imperative that all families fill out the SMV forms located on the left side under Permanent links. This form has your contact information in case there is an emergency and we need to get a hold of you. Also, this form has the size for your child's 5:11 free t-shirt that each students receives at the beginning of the school year.
Please remember that if your child is going home with someone else for a playdate, we need notes from both children.
Playground/Lunchroom Reimbursement
Together with the parish office we are closely monitoring who volunteers for playground/lunchroom duties. We will be re-paying the $200 deposits weekly as duties are completed. As has always been the case, if a family paid their tuition in full, they will be reimbursed through a check. If they are paying through monthly direct withdrawals, their next ACH payment will be reduced by the $200.
We have changed the process for how extra days are paid out.
In the past, with both cash and check payments it was difficult to know who had been paid out and who had not. This year, there will be no cash payments made for extra volunteer days. We will make payouts via a check after school closes in June.
