Diocesan Convention Youth and Young Adults
Oct 21-22, 2016

Diocesan Convention is the ultimate organizational decision-making body of the Diocese of Michigan. It is comprised of clergy and lay members who come together for two days in late October to decide the Diocesan budget (based on recommendations from the Budget and Finance Committee of the Diocesan Council), elects members of the diocese's various administrative, executive and judicial bodies and votes on any resolutions.

Here is an opportunity for High School Students and Young Adults to be a part of the Convention. We are looking for High School students and Young Adults who would like to be pages for the Convention. In addition to helping staff the YAYA booth, they will also be available to hand out and collect information to the delegates on the Convention floor, help to lead morning worship and have numerous other chances to interact with the workings of Convention.

The Diocesan Convention for 2016 will be held at The Lansing Center in Lansing, MI It will be Oct 21-22, 2016.
Spirit Break Out
Oct 30, 2016

An Experience of Drums, Dance, Song, Feast, Share & Send !

This event is being offered by youth for youth and adults. We will start at 4pm with a gathering time to be able to learn more about each other. We will then go into an eclectic and Spirit-filled worship time that will include participants from many different churches. We will then finish our time with food and sharing of our talents before being sent out to do the work that God has given us to do.

Spirit Break Out is open to everyone! All ages, all denominations. And there is no cost to participate.

Happening #19
Nov 18-20, 2016

Happening is...

  • a retreat weekend for high school students, presented by high school students, clergy and lay adults. We do everything from praying to playing, and from singing to sleeping. There are talks, small groups, free time and fun. We come together to praise God in an amazing environment, and hope you will join us!

  • open to all youth in grades 9-12. Adult sponsors from parishes are also encouraged to attend. Adults must have attended Safeguarding training.

  • more than a Youth Event. It's an experience. You'll find yourself telling your friends, family and complete strangers of the things that you encountered at Happening!
Resources for Youth Workers
"In order to believe in a good and creative God who loves kids and teenagers in spite of their mistakes and their mess, they need adults who will do the same. They need adults who can demonstrate to them over time that they matter and have a value far greater than what can be measured by performance."
