Life Below the Waterline
The Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission (ORSANCO) invites residents of Owensboro to view Life Below the Waterline, the traveling aquarium, near Smothers Park along the Ohio River. The traveling aquarium will be displayed starting the evening of Monday, October 3 until noon on Thursday, October 6.
The aquarium will feature aquatic life captured from the Ohio River in the immediate vicinity of Owensboro. The aquatic life will be collected on Monday and all fish will be returned to the Ohio River after the event.
The aquarium holds 2,200 gallons of water and Ohio River aquatic life. With two 5' X10' viewing areas, this display demonstrates the diversity of life sustained by the Ohio River and the improvements that have been made in water quality.
The aquarium will be displayed in conjunction with ORSANCO's Technical and Commission meetings. ORSANCO is excited to host its regular meeting in Owensboro, an Ohio River city. Owensboro is the hometown of ORSANCO's Chairman, Ron Lovan. "I am proud to be part of an organization that plays a role in protecting the many uses of the Ohio River which stretches 981 miles from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Cairo, Illinois. Owensboro is located 756 miles from the beginning of the Ohio River and we are happy to be in Owensboro along the banks of such a valuable resource as the Ohio River." said Lovan.
