This Fall, do something to prevent falls

As Fall Prevention month comes to an end, it's not too late to take simple steps to reduce your (or your loved one's) risk of falling.

1) Find a good balance and exercise program
2) Talk to your health care provider
3) Regularly review your medications with your doctor or pharmacist
4) Get your vision and hearing checked annually
5) Keep your home safe
6) Talk to your family members to enlist their help
It's easier than riding a bicycle

Oh wait...it is riding a bicycle! It's the 7th Annual Wheels for Meals Ride supporting Alameda County Meals on Wheels.

Saturday, October 29
Shadow Cliffs Regional Park in Pleasanton

Choose from a 15 mile, 30 mile, or 70 mile route. Or join us at the LIFE ElderCare Pumpkin Patch Rest Station and help us cheer on the riders and keep them hydrated.

What LIFE Means to Me

Maria, one of our satisfied Meals on Wheels and VIP Rides recipient, shared her thoughts about LIFE at our recent LIFE in Action event:

"The meals are fantastic, very healthy. I think we eat healthier now than when I was cooking. I don't know how to emphasize enough about what this means to us. It's just unbelievable and I cannot express this enough how grateful we are. So thank you for all."

And volunteer driver, Mary, had a few words to say about volunteering with LIFE:

"It's the easiest volunteer work. There are no meetings, no committee work. You don't have to bake. You don't get 47 phone calls about an issue. It's easy to do, you fit it into your own schedule, and the people are always appreciative."

P.S. Fremont Street Eats continues every Friday evening through October. Grab your dinner at one of the food trucks, and a cold beer or glass of wine at the Chamber booth. All tips go to LIFE ElderCare.
