DeKalb Chamber Going Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
In this month's issue of the newsletter, DeKalb Chamber is going pink to highlight Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 

Know the numbers:
  • One in eight women in the US will be diagnosed with breast cancer
  • An estimated 2,600 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer
  • On average, every 2 minutes a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer and 1 woman will die of breast cancer every 13 minutes
  • There are over 2.8 million breast cancer survivors in the US

Join us Thursday, October 6 for our special "Going Pink" Business-After-Hours, presented by CDC Federal Credit Union and DeKalb Medical, for a short program to commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
DeKalb Chamber Day of Service - Meals on Wheels for Senior Citizens
DeKalb Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, ambassadors and members are invited to join us for our Senior Connections Meals on Wheels Service Day to benefit the DeKalb County senior community. 

WHEN:
Friday, November 4
9:00 a.m. to 2 p.m.

WHERE: Senior Connections
5238 Peachtree Road
Chamblee, GA 30341

WHAT:  The Service Day will consist of two shifts. Shift 1 volunteers will package the meals on-site at Senior Connections' kitchen. Shift 2 volunteers will deliver the meals to seniors.

General Membership Meeting a Success
On September 29, DeKalb Chamber hosted its General Membership Meeting with Carmen Villar, CDC Chief of Staff. More than 75 members and guests were in attendance to learn more about CDC's response to infectious diseases like Ebola and Zika Virus.

Katerina Taylor visited China with Decide DeKalb Chair Tyrone Rachal and President Ray Gilley to learn more about China's business community.

The DeKalb County Board of Health is still offering flu shots. Avoid missing work or school days. Get protected against the flu.

Flu vaccinations are available on a walk-in basis Monday through Friday -- 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the following DeKalb County Board of Health locations:  Clifton Springs Health CenterEast DeKalb Health CenterNorth DeKalb Health CenterT.O. Vinson Health Center, Richardson Health Center.
