The  Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce is now accepting requests to fill our 2017 calendar . Hosting is a great way to showcase your business to Chamber members, non-members, government officials, educators and local businesses. If you would like to co-host a BASH with another Chamber member, please make the arrangements and send back one form that includes each hosts contact information. Citywide day of service on Oct. 8
Walnut Creek's 6th annual Community Service Day takes place Saturday, Oct. 8. More than 1,000 people have signed up so far, but many worthy projects are still in need of volunteers. Projects take about four hours to do, and are available for all ages and abilities.

There are 24 restaurants participating in this year's walk including 4 new ones! (See the list below for restaurants and what they're serving.)   Here's how it works - purchase a ticket book which has a coupon in it for each of the participating restaurants. Now is the time for residents and businesses in Walnut Creek to make their final decisions about MCE service before the end of the 60 day enrollment period without a $5 service fee for residents and a $25 service fee for businesses. You can always choose to opt up to MCE's Deep Green 100% renewable, and back to PG&E service, but the sooner you choose, the better!

Walnut Creek Chamber Endorses Assemblywoman Catharine Baker, City Council Incumbents Loella Haskew, Bob Simmons, and Justin Wedel, Measure X
 
The Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau announced that the Board of Directors voted to endorse Assemblywoman Catharine Baker for reelection to State Assembly District 16.  "The Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce is endorsing Catharine Baker in the State Assembly race to represent the 16th Assembly District. She is a strong leader for our community in the State Legislature," says Linda Rimac Colberg, Chair, Board of Directors, Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau. "Assemblywoman Baker's work to support pro-job policies, streamline regulations for business, and promote workforce development and education opportunities clearly makes her the best candidate for this office. Assemblywoman Baker has our full endorsement and we look forward to sending her back to Sacramento for a well-deserved second term."
 
The Board also voted to endorse   Walnut Creek City Council incumbents Loella Haskew, Bob Simmons, and Justin Wedel . "The three City Council incumbents, Haskew, Simmons, and Wedel, represent a balance of experience, leadership, and diverse thinking that has served Walnut Creek well," says Jay Hoyer, President and CEO of the Chamber.
  
Measure X, the Transportation Expenditure Plan, is a $2.9 billion transportation plan and revenue measure that features hi-tech improvements and infrastructure to keep our county moving now and in the future. After discussing the measure at length, the Board voted unanimously to endorse Measure X, joining all 19 cities and towns in Contra Costa County.
A New Leadership Class Begins Their Journey
Leadership Contra Costa  kicked off its 30th year on September 28 with an orientation and alumni reception at Renaissance ClubSport Walnut Creek.  Thanks to the Walnut Creek Chamber Board Chair, Linda Rimac Colberg , guest speaker  Ron Brown for welcoming the class with your inspiring thoughts- And a big thank you to Walnut Creek Chamber Senior VP and program director, Marcie Hochhauser, who makes it all happen!  The reception was an opportunity for the thirty-one participants to meet their classmates and the many Leadership alumni that came out to welcome them. Congratulations to each of these individuals for making a commitment to making a difference in the communities in which they live and work.

ATLANTA -- Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) is pleased to announce that Jim Hammack, Founder and CEO of Nerd Crossing Technology Services, has been appointed to serve on the organization's National Area Council Committee (NACC).  The NACC serves as a conduit between 54 Area Councils across the United States and BGCA's National Board of Governors. The NACC provides guidance on matters that affect member Clubs, and promotes the growth, development and effectiveness of all Area Councils. The NACC also provides representation and a voice for more than 4,100 Clubs that impact nearly 4 million children and teens each year.
