" Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant  or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things."

Can I send my child to school if he's not feeling well?

If your child has a temperature of 100 degrees or higher, body aches, and extreme sleepiness or is coughing, and vomiting, or has diarrhea you need to keep him/her home until he/she is free of those symptoms for 24 hours. Before returning to school your child needs to be fever free without the use of fever reducing medications such as Tylenol, Advil or Motrin to control his/her body temperature. This is crucial towards helping to keep down the spread of illness in our school. Also, if your child has been diagnosed with strep throat or any contagious condition please alert the Health Office ([email protected]) so the school community is advised and takes proper precautions. Return to school should be upon the advice of your child's doctor. If antibiotics are prescribed - they need to be taken as prescribed for at least 24 hours after the initial dose is given before returning to school. We want to provide your children with a healthy place to learn. We need every family's cooperation and diligence. If your child is not really sick, but something seems off, please let Mrs. Earner in the Health Clinic know and ask her to monitor your child. Please send her an email ([email protected]).

The St. Ambrose  Food Collection for the St. Lucy Project Begins Next Week !

The St. Lucy Project is a food pantry and delivery program of The Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington that is striving to achieve a Diocese without hunger, one county, one neighborhood, one parish, one family at a time.  You are the "bedrock" foundation of the Catholic response to hunger in our Diocese.   Christ House is included in the St Lucy Project Network.

During the week of October 11-14th we will be collecting c anned meat/fish, p asta sauce (no glass please), c anned vegetables, c hildren's snacks, p eanut butter & jelly, s oup,  cereals (hot and cold), d ried and canned beans, ca nned fruit, j uice, r ice and p asta.  Please consider sending any of these items in with your child to help feed those less fortunate.  This is a St. Ambrose community-wide service project.  If you have any questions or comments please email the PTO - At-Large Service Member Clare Stalnaker at  [email protected] .  Thank you in advance for your help!
Third Annual Coat Drive!

The winter weather wear collection will begin on Tuesday, November 1st (All Saints Day) and end Wednesday,
November 30th during Catholic Charities Week.  We accept coats, glo   ves, hats, scarves, and snowsuits and winter wear for all age groups.   We ask you to please donate only clean and in good condition items.  We want to donate what we ourselves would be happy to receive.  We have had such wonderful donations in the past, but we want to emphasize the items need to be washed or dry cleaned (Zips is cheap!) before giving to our less fortunate neighbors.  Our new Bishop Designate, Bishop Burbidge, in his press conference stressed the importance of charity, and that is what the community of St. Ambrose does so well.  There will be boxes in the school, and some of our students will be helping collect the items from each classroom.  Thank you so much.
