Ben's Buzz:

I would like to welcome Alexi Daniel to the faculty and staff of BFCCPS.  Alexi will be joining the 7/8th grade team as the new inclusion teacher.  We are so excited to have Alexi join our team!  Lexi has added a short bio to her faculty page, please be sure to stop by to read it.  Please join me in welcoming her to our school!

As a reminder school is closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week for Columbus Day, followed by a Professional Development Day and then Yom Kippur. We hope you have a wonderful long weekend with your family! 

Mid-Term reports will be sent home for students in grades 5-8 on Friday, October 14th.

Save The Date:


Save the Date! The  BFCCPS Photo Day will be held on October 25.  

The event is coordinated by the 
BFCCPS PCO  and order forms will be sent home closer to the day of the event. Many parent volunteers will be needed that day, please stay tuned for more details.   
Announcements:

Our new librarian Ms. White will be holding an informational meeting on October 7th for any parents interested in
volunteering in the library this year.  Parent volunteers can help check in and out books, reshelve and repair books and help students with technology projects. If you are interested in volunteering and are unable to attend the meeting or have any other questions please email Ms. White.

The 7th Grade is sponsoring an Epilepsy Foundation Clothing Drive  Oct. 24 - 28  in support of their 2017 Quebec trip.  Clean out your closets and donate all your unwanted clothes, shoes, handbags, etc. to the drive!  All items should be placed in bags and can be dropped in the bins near the school courtyard during school hours.  Any questions contact Kathleen Hogan  [email protected]  or Diann Ewanchuk  [email protected]


The Games Club meets on Friday to relax and play card games, board games and once a month video games.  Games Club will begin on 10/14. To join please email Mr. Perna at [email protected]Please bring your own snack following the same guidelines as during the school day.
Capstone Corner: 

Aaroh J.  i s raising awareness for homeless people as part of his Capstone Project in coordination with the Milford Salvation Army.  To help raise money he will be holding a football club for $15 dollars for the entire clinic. The club is open to students in Grades 3-5.  The group will meet on Fridays after school. You'll find all the details on the school calendar

Ritesh T. is hosting a soccer clinic for his Capstone Project.  The dates are September 30th, October 7, 14, 21 and 28.  The clinic runs from 3:30 to 4:30 for kindergarten and first graders.  Please bring a water bottle and the clinic will take place in the BFCCPS Fields.  If you have any questions,please email [email protected].

Aiden K will be doing a sock drive as part of his   Capstone Project .  For his capstone he is working with a foundation called the Jo Foundation which helps end homelessness for adults only.  He will have a bin located in the front of the school from 9/26 through 10/31 from 8 am to 3 pm. 


Saiteja T. in Grade 8 will be holding a donation drive for at-risk kids.  He is looking for lightly used winter gear.  It lasts from November 1st through November 15. Please make sure to donate, the bins will be located near the Trophy Case.


The Board of Trustees is currently seeking new members to serve on the Facilities, Finance, Human Resources and Mission  committees.

These committees are responsible for any real estate matters that affect the school, the overall school financial performance and management of school investments, for reviewing and developing the school's policies, rules, and procedures and supporting the mission of BFCCPS. Expertise in the related areas is desirable but all are welcome to join the committees.


Committee meetings are generally held once a month with additional meetings occurring on an as needed basis. If you are interested in participating in one or more committee please contact the individuals below to learn more.

Join us for the first PCO General Meeting of the 2016-2017 school year!

The meeting will be held on Monday, October 17th from 7:30 to 8:30 pm.  As a parent of a student at BFCCPS you are automatically a member of the PCO. We hope you'll join us to learn more!

You can meet children's book authors and illustrators and even have your books signed at the Rhode Island Festival of Children's Books and Authors. The event will be held Saturday, October 15th from 9 am to 5:30 pm at the Lincoln School.    Learn more here.

IT'S DESTINATION IMAGINATION SIGN UP TIME!!!

Destination Imagination, Inc. is a leading educational nonprofit dedicated to teaching students the skills needed to succeed in school, their careers and beyond. We develop project-based challenges that blend STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education with the arts and social entrepreneurship.

If you aren't familiar with DI or would like more information about it before signing your children up, we will be having a parent info meeting on October 6th at  6:00pm at the Franklin Public Library

R eminders from the Front Office:
 
Visitors: 
All visitors to the school are required to sign in at the Front Office and wear a Visitor's badge. Visitors must be escorted at all times.  Thank you for your help with this!
 
Parking & Parking Lot Safety:  Parking is not allowed in marked reserved spots near the schools main entrance. These spots are reserved for the CCD program staff.

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures: 
Please adhere to the posted arrival and dismissal procedures which are posted here our website. If you plan on parking on Queen Street to pick up your children, you must park and walk into the courtyard to pick them up. Students may not walk across the playground to Queen Street regardless of their grade level. This is for their own personal safety. 

Absence and Dismissal Notification:  If your child will be absent or tardy from school, Please contact Mrs. Tappin at [email protected] or at 508-541-3434 x100.  Additionally, if you have to make any dismissal changes please email both your child(ren)'s homeroom teacher AND Mrs. Laura Tappin by email at  [email protected]

CORI Processing: If you would like to complete a CORI for volunteering in the classroom or chaperoning Field Trips you will need to make an appointment with Mrs. Schwab. CORI paperwork can be completed on Fridays from 10-11 or Thursday from 1:30-2:30.  You can also arrange to process CORI Paperwork on either of the Curriculum Nights between 6:00-6:30.  Please email [email protected] for more information. 
 
To submit events for the School Calendar or to place building space requests please fill out a Blue Sheet in the front office and submit to the Assistant Head of School, Joe Perna.
